The teams
The 2020 NBA Finals will feature the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat. This will be the first time these two teams have met in the Finals since 2010, when the Lakers won in seven games. The Heat are looking to revenge that loss and win their first NBA title since 2006.

The Los Angeles Lakers are an American professional basketball team based in Los Angeles. The Lakers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as a member of the league’s Western Conference in the Pacific Division. The Lakers play their home games at Staples Center, an arena shared with the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers, the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women’s National Basketball Association, and the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League. The Lakers are one of the most successful teams in the history of the NBA, having won 17 NBA championships, their last being in 2010.
Miami Heat
The Miami Heat are an American professional basketball team based in Miami. The Heat compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Southeast Division. The Heat play their home games at American Airlines Arena, and have won three NBA championships.
The players
Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love are both out for the season, so the Cavaliers will have to rely on LeBron James even more than usual if they want to win the NBA Finals. The Warriors have been the better team all season, but they will be without one of their best players, Andre Iguodala, for at least the first two games of the series.
LeBron James
LeBron Raymone James Sr. (/ləˈbrɒn/; born December 30, 1984) is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is widely considered to be one of the greatest NBA players of all time. Discussions ranking him as the greatest basketball player of all time have often included his peers and contemporaries, such as Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. To date, James holds the record for the most All-Star appearances (16), All-Star Game starts (14), and All-Star Game MVP awards (4).
Anthony Davis
Anthony Davis, nicknamed “AD” is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He plays the power forward and center positions. Davis was selected first overall in the 2012 NBA draft by New Orleans Pelicans and went on to be named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. He has been an All-Star six times, won three All-Star MVP awards, and was named to both the All-NBA First Team and the All-Defensive First Team five times. He has also led the league in blocks twice.
Jimmy Butler
Jimmy Butler III (born September 14, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA). After playing one year of college basketball for Tyler Junior College, he transferred to Marquette University. He was drafted with the 30th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls.
In his first season with the Bulls, Butler was named the NBA Most Improved Player. He has been selected to four NBA All-Star teams and has been named to both the All-NBA Third Team and Defensive Team. In 2015, he was named the NBA’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player. In 2019, he led the league in steals per game.

Erik Spoelstra
Erik Jon Spoelstra (/ˈspoʊlstrə/ SPOHL-strə; born November 1, 1970) is an American professional basketball coach who serves as the head coach of the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is considered one of the greatest coaches in NBA history.[1][2]
Spoelstra was born in Evanston, Illinois. His paternal grandfather immigrated from the Philippines to Hawaii in 1915[3] and became a heavy equipment operator at Pearl Harbor.[4][5] Spoelstra’s father, Jon Sr., played tennis at the University of Portland. His mother, Jayne (née Reiner),[6] was a stay-at-home mom. He has two older sisters.[7][8] The family moved to Portland after his father retired from the military, and then to Buffalo, New York,[9] when Spoelstra was 11 years old. Jon Sr. put a hoop in the backyard and Erik would spend hours practicing his jump shot.[10]
He attended Maryvale High School in Cheektowaga, a Buffalo suburb,[11][12] and played varsity basketball for four years. In his senior year, he was named Class A Player of the Year after averaging 27 points per game.[13][14] He played college basketball for four years at the University of Portland. In 1992–93, as a senior point guard, he shared Pilots team MVP honors with future NBA player Petrovic.[15][16] He finished his career ranked second on Portland’s all-time list in 3-point field goal percentage (.442), free throw percentage (.854) and games started (114).[17]
