The NFL playoffs are upon us and there are a few teams that are still in the hunt. Who do you think will be the last team standing?

The NFC

The NFC is full of teams that are still in the hunt for the playoffs. The Seahawks, Packers, and Cowboys are all still in the running. The Panthers and Falcons are also still in the hunt. The Bears and Vikings are on the outside looking in, but they could still make a run.

The Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers are a professional American football team based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Packers compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) North division. It is the third-oldest franchise in the NFL, dating back to 1919, and is the only non-profit, community-owned major league professional sports team based in the United States. Home games have been played at Lambeau Field since 1957.

The Packers are the last of the “small town teams” which were common in the NFL during the league’s early days of 1921 and 1922. Founded in 1919 by Earl “Curly” Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun, the franchise traces its lineage to other semi-professional teams in Green Bay dating back to 1896. Between 1919 and 1920, the Packers competed against other semi-pro clubs from around Wisconsin and the Midwest, before joining the American Professional Football Association (APFA), now known as the NFL, in 1921. Although Green Bay is by far the smallest major league professional sports market in North America, Forbes ranked the Packers as being worth $1 billion ahead of 29 other NFL franchises as of August 2015.

The Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are a professional American football franchise based in Seattle, Washington. The Seahawks compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) West division. They joined the NFL in 1976 as an expansion team, along with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Seahawks are owned by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen and are currently coached by Pete Carroll. Since 2002, the Seahawks have played their home games at CenturyLink Field, located south of downtown Seattle. The Seahawks previously played home games in the Kingdome (1976–1999) and Husky Stadium (1994, 2000–2001).

The Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are a professional American football team based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The Cowboys compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) East division. They are one of the most successful teams in the history of the NFL, having appeared in eight Super Bowls, tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Denver Broncos for second most appearances in a Super Bowl behind only the New England Patriots, who have made eleven appearances. The Cowboys have played in all but one of the Super Bowls since they began playing in 1960.

The Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings are a professional American football team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They are members of the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) North division. The Vikings joined the NFL as an expansion team in 1960, and first took the field for the 1961 season. The team competes in the NFC North as its second member after the Green Bay Packers.

The AFC

The AFC playoff race is still wide open heading into the final week of the regular season. There are five teams vying for the two wild card spots, and any one of them could end up in the playoffs. Let’s take a look at the teams that are still in the hunt.

The Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are a professional American football team based in Baltimore, Maryland. The Ravens compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. The team plays its home games at M&T Bank Stadium and is headquartered in Owings Mills.

The Ravens were established in 1996, when Art Modell, who was then the owner of the Cleveland Browns, announced plans to relocate the franchise to Baltimore. As part of a settlement between Modell and the city of Cleveland, the Browns’ name, colors, and history were retained by Modell and given to his new franchise, which would be a member of the AFC. The Ravens have qualified for the NFL playoffs ten times since 2000, with two Super Bowl victories (Super Bowl XXXV and XLVII), two AFC Championship titles (2000 and 2012), 15 playoff victories, four AFC North division championships (2003, 2006, 2011, 2018), and are currently the No. 6 seed in the 2019-20 NFL playoffs.

The New England Patriots

The New England Patriots have clinched the AFC East for the 11th consecutive season and the 16th time in the last 17 years. They will enter the playoffs as the No. 2 seed in the AFC and will have a first-round bye. The Patriots can still earn the No. 1 seed in the AFC if they win in Week 17 and the Kansas City Chiefs lose to the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Houston Texans

The Houston Texans are a professional American football team based in Houston, Texas. The Texans compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) South division. The team plays its home games at NRG Stadium. They are headquartered in the NRG Astrodome area.

The Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs have clinched the AFC West for the fifth consecutive season and are in position for the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs. They’ll need to keep winning, though, as the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens are right behind them in the race for home-field advantage throughout the postseason.

The Chiefs have one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes has thrown for 4,104 yards and 26 touchdowns this season, and he has also rushed for 273 yards and five scores.

The Chiefs’ offense is so potent that it has masked some of the team’s deficiencies on defense. The unit ranks 29th in the NFL in yards allowed per game, but it has been opportunistic with 28 takeaways.
