Eastern Conference
As of May 23, 2021, the Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets, and New York Knicks are still in the NBA playoffs for the Eastern Conference. (Teams in italics have clinched a playoff spot).
Milwaukee Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks are a professional basketball team based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Bucks compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Eastern Conference Central Division. The team was founded in 1968 as an expansion team, and played its home games at the Milwaukee Arena from 1968 to 1988.Since 2004, the Bucks have played their home games at the new Fiserv Forum. They won one conference title and 13 division titles between 1970 and 2020. The team has featured such notable players as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Oscar Robertson, Bob Lanier, Glenn Robinson, Ray Allen, Sam Cassell, Junior Bridgeman, Michael Redd, Andrew Bogutand Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Brooklyn Nets
The Brooklyn Nets are one of the eight teams remaining in the 2021 NBA Playoffs. They are in the Eastern Conference and are the second seed. They have a record of 44-24.
The Nets lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the 2020 NBA Playoffs.
Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers are an American professional basketball team based in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The 76ers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Atlantic Division and play at Wells Fargo Center. Founded in 1946 and originally known as the Syracuse Nationals, they are one of the oldest franchises in the NBA, and one of only eight (out of 23) to survive the league’s first decade.
Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks are a professional basketball team based in Atlanta, Georgia. The Hawks compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Southeast Division. The team plays its home games at State Farm Arena.
The Hawks began play as the Buffalo Bisons, one of three expansion teams to join the NBA for the 1949–50 season, along with the Denver Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers. They joined the National Basketball League (NBL) from Buffalo, New York. The Bisons were brought into the league by partners Ben Kerner and Leo Ferris; Kerner owned a minority stake in the team at 50%.
The Bisons quickly struggled under their coaches Honey Russell and Poki Schellentrager; on December 20, 1949, after posting a record of 3–22, Russell and Schellentrager were relieved of their duties, replaced by Georgia native Harold Anderson and his college coach Mike Stringfellow. The two best teams in the Western Conference will face off in the Conference Finals. The Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers have both been dominant this season. They are the two best teams in the conference and they are the two favorites to win the conference.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers are an American professional basketball team based in Los Angeles. The Lakers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as a member of the league’s Western Conference in the Pacific Division. The Lakers play their home games at Staples Center, an arena shared with the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers, the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women’s National Basketball Association, and the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League. The Lakers are one of the most successful teams in the history of the NBA, and have won 17 NBA championships, tied with the Boston Celtics for second-most behind only the San Antonio Spurs.
As of 2021, the Lakers are third in line for most titles won by a team in NBA history, behind only to Boston Celtics (17) and San Antonio Spurs (5). They have played in 31 NBA Finals series, winning 16 championships. Their 32 appearances is third-most behind only Boston (37) and Philadelphia/Golden State (33).
Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets are a professional basketball team based in Denver, Colorado. The Nuggets compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Northwest Division. The team was founded as the Denver Larks in 1967 as a charter franchise of the American Basketball Association (ABA), but changed its name to Rockets before the first season. It changed its name again to the Nuggets in 1974. After nine seasons in the ABA, the Nuggets were admitted to the NBA in 1976. The team played its home games at McNichols Sports Arena from its inception until 1999, when it was moved to Pepsi Center.
Portland Trail Blazers
The Portland Trail Blazers, commonly known as the Blazers, are an American professional basketball team based in Portland, Oregon. The Trail Blazers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Northwest Division. The franchise was founded in 1970, and played its home games in Memorial Coliseum before moving to Moda Center in 1995 (named after corporate sponsor Nike’s then-subsidiary “Moda Health”). The team has advanced to the NBA Finals three times, winning the NBA championship once in 1977.
The Trail Blazers have been the most successful professional basketball franchise in the state of Oregon, winning six conference championships and five division titles. They have played their home games at Moda Center since 1995. The Blazers have been involved in some of the fiercest rivalries in recent NBA history with their opponents: the Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs, and Utah Jazz.

The Utah Jazz are an American professional basketball team based in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Jazz compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Northwest Division. Since 1991, the team has played its home games at Vivint Smart Home Arena.
