It’s a debate as old as time itself: who is the best cornerback in the NFL? We break down the top 5 contenders for the title.
Deion Sanders

His NFL career lasted for 14 seasons, during which time he proved to be one of the most explosive and exciting defensive players in the league. He was named to the Pro Bowl eight times, and was voted first-team All-Pro four times. He also holds the distinction of being the only player in NFL history to score a touchdown six different ways: interception return, punt return, kick return, rushing, receiving, and fumble recovery. In 1994, he was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Champ Bailey
Champ Bailey is considered one of the best cornerbacks of his era. He was a 12-time Pro Bowler, and was named to the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team. Bailey was known for his shutdown coverage, and was often matched up against the opposing team’s best receiver.

Darrelle Revis
NFL cornerbacks come in all shapes and sizes. Some are tall, some are short, some are fast, and some are strong. But there is only one who is the best at his position, and that is Darrelle Revis.

Following his release from the Jets after one year, Revis signed a two-year deal with Tampa Bay Buccaneers worth $16 million in annual salary. He played one season with Tampa Bay before being traded to New England Patriots midway through the 2013 season. After winning Super Bowl XLIX with New England over Seattle Seahawks, he signed a one-year deal worth $12 million to return to New York Jets in 2015.

Richard Sherman
In my opinion, the best CB in the NFL is Richard Sherman. Sherman is a big, physical cornerback who can run with any receiver in the league. He’s also a great tackler and has a nose for the ball.
