Max Scherzer is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has also played in MLB for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Detroit Tigers. Scherzer was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals out of high school in 2002 but did not sign with them. He instead attended college at the University of Missouri, where he played college baseball for the Missouri Tigers baseball team. After his junior year, he was drafted by the Diamondbacks with the 11th pick overall in the first round of the 2006 MLB Draft. He made his debut with Arizona late in the 2008 season and became a full-time starter in 2009.
