Mike Scioscia is an American former professional baseball catcher and current manager for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has served as the Angels’ manager since 2000. Prior to becoming the Angels’ manager, Scioscia spent his entire playing career in Major League Baseball with the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1980 to 1992, and was a two-time All-Star and won a Golden Glove Award in 1988.
Scioscia was born inGlen Cove, New York on November 27, 1958. He attended high school at Servite High School in Anaheim, California, where he played baseball and football. Scioscia was drafted by the Dodgers in the 1976 MLB Draft and made his major league debut with the team in 1980. He played for the Dodgers for 13 seasons before he was traded to the Anaheim Angels in 1995. He spent one season with the Angels before retiring from playing baseball in 1996.
