The Packers are the last of the “small town teams” which were common in the NFL during the league’s early days of 1922 and 1923. Founded in 1919 by Earl “Curly” Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun, the franchise traces its lineage to other semi-pro teams in Green Bay dating back to 1896. Between 1919 and 1920, the Packers competed against other semi-pro clubs from around Wisconsin and Michigan. They joined the American Professional Football Association (APFA), now known as the National Football League (NFL), in 1921. The club was a charter member of both the APFA and NFL.

Among active players at the end of the 2019 season, he ranked first in completion percentage (65.2%), second in touchdown/interception ratio (4.23), and third in yards per attempt (8.4). He is one of only two quarterbacks to have a career passer rating over 100, along with Russell Wilson, and one of only three to have averaged over 300 passing yards per game for their careers, along with Drew Brees and Wilson.

Super Bowl XLV was an American football game played between the American Football Conference (AFC) champions Pittsburgh Steelers and the National Football Conference (NFC) champions Green Bay Packers to decide the National Football League (NFL) champion for the 2010 season. The Packers defeated the Steelers by a score of 31–25. The game was played on February 6, 2011 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. This was the first Super Bowl in which the two head coaches had previously won a Super Bowl; Edinburg native Mike McCarthy led Green Bay to victory in Super Bowl XLV while Pittsburgh’s Mike Tomlin led his team to victory in Super Bowl XLIII just three years prior.

Drew Brees is an American football quarterback for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). He had a stellar college career with the Purdue Boilermakers, setting numerous NCAA records, and was chosen by the San Diego Chargers with the first pick in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He proved to be an immediate success in the NFL, taking the Chargers to the playoffs in his first year as a starter.
In 2004, Brees suffered a season-ending injury in a game against the Denver Broncos. Many believed that his career was over, but Brees persevered, returning to form the following year. He continued to play at a high level for several years and was selected to 11 Pro Bowls. In 2010, he led the Saints to their first Super Bowl victory, defeating the Peyton Manning-led Indianapolis Colts 31-17. Brees was named Super Bowl MVP after completing 32 of 39 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns.
In 2018, at age 39, Brees surpassed Peyton Manning’s all-time record for most passing yards in an NFL career. He currently has over 75,000 passing yards and counting.

The following year, he guiding the Chargers to an 11-5 record and their first AFC West division championship in 14 years. In 2008, he set new NFL single-season records for completions (396) and passing yards (5,069) while also leading his team to a franchise-record 13-3 season and their second consecutive AFC West division title. In Super Bowl XLIV that year, he led his team to a 31-17 victory over the Indianapolis Colts, earning him Super Bowl MVP honors as well as his first ever Lombardi Trophy.
