Who Is the MVP of the NFL This Year?

The NFL season is well underway, and there are already plenty of contenders for the coveted MVP award. Who do you think is the most deserving candidate so far?

Tom Brady

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is the current MVP of the NFL. He has been selected as the MVP three times before, in 2007, 2010, and 2017. This year, he is leading the league in passing yards and touchdowns. He has also thrown only one interception.

Drew Brees

As the 2019 NFL regular season winds down, we take a look at the leading candidates for this year’s Most Valuable Player award. Many experts have said that this could be one of the most wide-open MVP races in recent memory, with a number of deserving candidates having impressive seasons. Here are the leading contenders for this year’s MVP award, in alphabetical order:

-Drew Brees, QB, New Orleans Saints: Brees is having yet another tremendous season, as he leads the league in passing yards (3,813) and completion percentage (76.1%). He has also thrown 28 touchdown passes and just 6 interceptions, while leading the Saints to an 11-2 record.

-Patrick Mahomes II, QB, Kansas City Chiefs: The reigning MVP has been even better this season, as he leads the league in touchdown passes (41) and passing yards per game (316.8). He has also thrown for over 300 yards in 11 of 13 games, and has led the Chiefs to a 10-3 record.

-Russell Wilson, QB, Seattle Seahawks: Wilson is having arguably the best season of his career, as he leads the Seahawks to a 10-3 record while throwing for 3295 yards and 31 touchdowns. He has also rushed for 4 touchdowns and is averaging 7.2 yards per carry.

-Defensive players: There are a number of defensive players who are having terrific seasons and could receive MVP consideration, including Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Addison (10 sacks), New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore (6 interceptions), Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald (15 sacks) and San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner (117 tackles).

Aaron Rodgers

Rodgers has been enjoying one of the best seasons of his career. He leads the league in touchdown passes (45) and passer rating (121.5), and he’s thrown just four interceptions. He’s also rushed for four touchdowns. The Packers have a 13-3 record and are the top seed in the NFC.

Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson has been one of the most consistent players in the NFL over the past few years, and this season he has been absolutely phenomenal. Through 13 games, he has thrown for 3,290 yards and 32 touchdowns, while also rushing for 550 yards and 3 touchdowns. His play has been a big reason why the Seahawks have one of the best records in the league, and he should be in the running for MVP.
