The National Football League (NFL) sack leader is the season leader in sacks from each season of the National Football League (NFL).
Michael Strahan
Michael Strahan is the NFL sack leader. He played for the New York Giants from 1993-2007. He set the record for most sacks in a season in 2001 with 22.5 sacks. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014.
Michael Strahan’s NFL career
Michael Strahan is a former American football defensive end who spent his entire 15-year career with the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He is one of the most decorated defensive players in NFL history, having been selected to seven Pro Bowls and winning a Super Bowl in his final season. He holds the NFL single-season sacks record with 22.5, set in 2001.
Strahan was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He played college football at Texas Southern University, where he earned All-American honors. He was drafted by the Giants in the second round of the 1993 NFL Draft, and went on to play 15 seasons with the team. During his time with the Giants he won a Super Bowl in his final season (2007), and set the league record for sacks in a single season (2001).
After retiring from football, Strahan became a television personality, appearing as an analyst on Fox NFL Sunday and co-hosting Live! with Kelly and Michael. He has also appeared in several films and television shows as himself or as fictional characters.

NFL great Michael Strahan has had a very successful career after his playing days ended. He is now a media personality, actor, and entrepreneur.
In addition to his work on television, Strahan has also found success as an author. He has written two books, Wake Up Happy: The Dream Big, Win Big Guide to Transforming Your Life and co-authored with co-author Peter King the book Inside the Helmet: My Life as a Sunday Afternoon Warrior.
Strahan has also become a very successful businessman. He is a partner in a number of businesses including a clothing line, investment firms, and restaurants.
Jared Allen
As of the 2013 NFL season, Jared Allen is the league’s active leader in sacks. He has 136.5 sacks in his career, which is the fourth most in NFL history. Allen has been voted to four Pro Bowls and was named the NFL sacks leader in 2007 and 2011.

Jared Scott Allen (born April 3, 1982) is a former professional American football defensive end. He played college football at Idaho State, and was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL) in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons with the Chiefs before being traded to the Minnesota Vikings for two first-round draft picks in 2008. He spent six seasons with the Vikings before joining the Chicago Bears as a free agent in 2014. During his career, he registered 136 sacks, which is tied for 15th most all time. He also has 11 forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries, including one returned for a touchdown.
Jared Allen’s post-NFL career
On February 18, 2015, it was announced that Allen had signed a one-day contract with the Kansas City Chiefs so he could retire as a member of the team.
In May 2015, Allen launched his own coffee company, Jared Allen’s 69 Coffee Company. The coffee is described as “a bold coffee with just the right amount of bite.”
Allen made an appearance in skit on The Pete Holmes Show in October 2015. In the skit, he played a genie who granted Holmes’ character three wishes. The skit is a parody of the NFL Films’ Hyperbole and a Half sketches.
On December 4th, 2015, it was announced that Jared Allen had joinedthe ownership group of an Arena Football League expansion team set to begin play in Portland, Maine in April 2017. The new team will be called the Maine Mammoths.
DeMarcus Ware
DeMarcus Ware is an NFL linebacker who currently plays for the Denver Broncos. He is the all-time leader in sacks for the Broncos, and is currently ninth in NFL history with 128.5 sacks.

DeMarcus Ware is a retired American football outside linebacker who played in the National Football League (NFL) for fourteen seasons. He played college football at Troy University, and was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys number 11 overall in the 2005 NFL Draft. He spent the first twelve years of his career with the Cowboys, where he became the franchise’s all-time leader in sacks. In 2014, Ware signed with the Denver Broncos as a free agent, winning Super Bowl 50 with them over the Carolina Panthers. Citing injuries and declining production, he announced his retirement from professional football on March 13, 2017.
DeMarcus Ware’s post-NFL career
After a successful NFL career, DeMarcus Ware took some time off to pursue other interests. He has since returned to the game as a coach for the Denver Broncos.
