She was assigned to their developmental brand NXT in 2015, where she became NXT Women’s Champion and went on to have multiple reigns with the title. Later that year, she won the Raw Women’s Championship for the first time, becoming the first women to hold both Raw and NXT Women’s Championships simultaneously. She is also a former NXT Women’s Champion, making her the first and only double champion in WWE history to hold both titles concurrently. She has headlined multiple pay-per-view events for WWE, including WrestleMania.
Banks was born in Fairfield, California, and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. She trained in various wrestling promotions in New England throughout 2011 and 2012 before joining WWE in July 2012. In WWE’s developmental brand NXT, she quickly ascended up the ranks as one of its top female stars, winning both the NXT Women’s Championship and NXT Tag Team Championship. After being called up to WWE’s main roster in 2015 as part of its relaunch of the Divas division (later renamed to Women’s division), Banks immediately captured the WWE Women’s Championship; this made her the youngest champion (at age 24) at that time. Over the next two years on Raw and SmackDown Live brands respectively, Banks had several high profile matches while predominantly teaming with Bayley; they held both tag team titles simultaneously on one occasion. During their title reigns together they were nicknamed “The Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection”. In 2019 at WrestleMania 35, Banks defeated Ronda Rousey to win her fourth Raw Women’s Championship thanks largely to interference from Lynch which resulted in Lynch turning heel; this thereby made WrestleMania 35 the first all-women headlining match at any WrestleMania event as well as Lynch and Banks being crowned co-champions upon its conclusion due to a referee stoppage – therefore making it a triple threat match instead of a singles match – thereby ending Rousey’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania which spanned three matches and eight years (her last loss was against Shuai Zhang at Strikeforce: Diaz vs Noons 2 on April 11, 2009).
