History

Thorin is a well known Esports journalist, content creator and historian. He is also a big League of Legends fan. He started his Youtube channel in 2010 and has been writing about Esports since 2011. In 2012 he became a host forESL, one of the biggest Esports organisations in the world. He has also worked for Riot Games, the company behind League of Legends, as an on-air personality and strategist.

Pre-Esports

Pre-Esports, Thorin was just a young man with a passion for video games. He loved playing them, watching others play them and analysing why some strategies worked and others didn’t. He started making videos about his favourite games and players and soon became known in the small but passionate UK Counter-Strike scene. People appreciated his insights and knowledge and he quickly built up a following.

As his following grew, so did Thorin’s ambitions. He wanted to use his platform to help grow esports and make it more professional and sustainable. In 2010, he co-founded the first ever Counter-Strike team in the UK,4 Kings. The team achieved moderate success, but more importantly for Thorin, they helped legitimise esports in the eyes of sponsors and the mainstream media.

After a few years away from playing and casting games professionally, Thorin re-entered the spotlight in early 2014 as one of the main hosts of the CS:GO tournaments at ESL One Cologne and DreamHack Winter. His experience, wit and knowledge won him many fans and he quickly established himself as one of the leading voices in CS:GO broadcasting.

In late 2014, with esports now firmly on the mainstream radar, Thorin decided it was time to pursue his dream of owning an esports team. He co-founded Dignitas with Michael “ODEE” O’Dell and together they set out to build one of the best Counter-Strike teams in the world.

CS:GO is a multiplayer first-person shooter video game developed by Hidden Path Entertainment and Valve Corporation. It is the fourth game in the Counter-Strike series and was released for Windows, macOS, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 in August 2012, while the Linux version was released in 2014. The game pits two teams against each other: the Terrorists and the Counter-Terrorists. Both teams are tasked with eliminating the other while also completing separate objectives. TheTerrorists, depending on the game mode, must either plant a bomb or defend hostages, while the Counter-Terrorists must prevent the bomb from being planted or rescue hostages. There are nine game modes, all of which have distinct characteristics specific to that mode.

The aforementioned modes are casual, competitive, arms race, demolition, deathmatch, wingman, knife fight, gun game, and ranked matchmaking. Competitive mode pits players against each other in two teams of five players in round-based matches. The first team to win 16 rounds wins the match. Each competitive match consists of 30 rounds and generally takes about 45 minutes to complete.

Overwatch

Overwatch is a six-versus-six team shooter where players choose one of more than two dozen heroes, each with their own unique weapons and abilities, and play until one team either accomplishes the map’s objective or eliminates the other team.

We also have plans to launch a new website later this year that will better showcase all the content we produce and make it easier for people to find what they’re looking for. And last but not least, we’re working on some very special projects that we can’t wait to share with you in the months to come.

Thank you so much for your support, and here’s to an even better 2020!
