The NBA Finals are in full swing and the battle for the scoring title is heating up. Who leads the way so far?
LeBron James
LeBron James is one of the best basketball players in the world and he is currently leading the NBA Finals in scoring. He is a force to be reckoned with on the court and he always seems to come up big in the clutch. LeBron is a true champion and it is always exciting to watch him play.
Regular season
LeBron James has led the NBA in scoring in 10 of his 16 seasons, including each of the past seven. He is currently the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, with 34,241 points.
During the 2017-18 season, James averaged 27.5 points per game, the second-highest average of his career behind only his 28.0 points per game average during the 2005-06 season. He also averaged a career-high 9.1 assists per game during the 2017-18 season.
Playoffs
In the playoffs, James has appeared in 200 games and has averaged 28.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, 7.1 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 48.7 percent from the field, 34 percent from three-point range and 73 percent from the free throw line. He has also been named NBA Finals MVP four times (2012, 2013, 2016 and 2017) and has won two gold medals with Team USA (2008 and 2012).
Kevin Durant
Kevin Durant is leading the NBA Finals in scoring with an average of 33.6 points per game. He is also averaging 8.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. Durant has been a big reason why the Golden State Warriors have been so successful in the playoffs.
Regular season
In his first season with the Warriors, Durant helped the team achieve a 67–15 record, the best in the NBA regular season. He averaged 25.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.6 blocks, and 1.1 steals per game, and was selected to his ninth All-Star Game. Durant was named the Western Conference Player of the Month four times (November, December, February, and March), and won Western Conference Player of the Week three times. For his efforts during the regular season, he was named to the All-NBA First Team for a record-tying eighth consecutive time. He also became one of only nine players in NBA history to average at least 25 points, eight rebounds, and four assists per game in a season.
Playoffs
The playoffs are upon us and that means intense, nerve-wracking basketball action. For some fans, this is the most exciting time of the year. The best teams in the league battle it out until only one is left standing. And for diehard fans, that one team is usually their favorite squad.
This year’s playoffs are especially interesting because there are a number of powerful teams vying for the championship title. The Golden State Warriors are the defending champions and they’re looking to repeat. But the Houston Rockets, led by MVP candidate James Harden, are determined to dethrone them. Then there’s the always dangerous LeBron James and his Cleveland Cavaliers team. And don’t forget about the resurgent Boston Celtics, who have surprised everyone by making it to the conference finals.
It’s going to be a thrilling few weeks of NBA action and we can’t wait to see who comes out on top!
Stephen Curry
Stephen Curry is currently leading the NBA Finals in scoring. Curry is averaging 32.5 points per game so far in the Finals. He is shooting an impressive 52.5% from the field and 47.4% from three-point range. Curry is also averaging 5.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game.

Stephen Curry is an American professional basketball player for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). A six-time NBA All-Star, he has been voted unanimously into the All-NBA First Team three times and became the first player in NBA history to be named Most Valuable Player (MVP) by a unanimous vote. The son of former NBA player Dell Curry, he played college basketball for Davidson. There he was named Southern Conference Player of the Year twice and led his team to three conference titles and four NCAA tournament appearances. During his sophomore year, he also set the NCAA record for three-pointers made in a season.
Following his successful college career, Curry was selected with the seventh overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft by Golden State. In his sixth season with the Warriors, he helped lead them to their first championship since 1975 and was named the NBA Finals MVP. He signed a new five-year contract with the Warriors in 2017, keeping him with the franchise through 2022.
Curry is one of only two players in NBA history to make more than 500 three-pointers in a single season; he broke his own record twice, first in 2012–13 with 272 and again in 2014–15 with 286. He has established several other league shooting records and currently ranks sixth on both the league’s all-time regular season scoring list and all-time postseason scoring list.
Playoffs
In the 2015 playoffs, Curry averaged 28.3 points, 5.4 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game. He led the Warriors to their first NBA Finals appearance since 1975, and was named the Western Conference Finals MVP. In Game 1 of the Finals, he scored 34 points and set an NBA Finals record with nine three-pointers made in a 128–114 overtime loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. In Game 4, he scored 37 points in a 102–91 victory over the Cavaliers, giving the Warriors a 3–1 series lead. However, the Cavaliers won the next three games, with Curry averaging 21.6 points on 39.8% shooting in the final three games of the series
Kawhi Leonard
Kawhi Leonard has been leading the NBA Finals in scoring so far. He has averaged 27.8 points per game and has helped the Raptors take a 3-2 lead in the series. Leonard has been playing some great basketball and has been a big reason for the Raptors’ success.
Regular season
Kawhi Leonard led the NBA in scoring during the regular season with an average of 27.1 points per game. He also averaged 7.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game while shooting 49.6 percent from the field and 37.9 percent from three-point range.
Playoffs
The 2019 NBA playoffs was the postseason tournament of the National Basketball Association’s 2018–19 season. The playoffs began on April 13 and ended on June 13 at the conclusion of the 2019 NBA Finals.
The defending champion Golden State Warriors entered the playoffs as the top seed in the Western Conference, while the Milwaukee Bucks secured the top seed in the Eastern Conference. The Warriors went on to defeat the Bucks in six games in the Finals, winning their sixth title in franchise history and third consecutive championship overall.
