2020 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the NFL. Who will lead the league in QB pressures?
Seattle Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks have the most QB pressures in the NFL 2020 season with 50. They were able to achieve this by sacking the quarterback 12 times and having 38 hurries. This is a huge improvement from their 2019 season where they only had 30 QB pressures.
Russell Wilson
As of Week 8 of the 2020 NFL season, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson leads the league in quarterback pressures with 45.
Seahawks’ offensive line
The Seahawks’ offensive line is a group of American football players who line up in the offensive line for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). They are typically responsible for protecting the quarterback during passing plays and opening up rushing lanes during running plays. The Seahawks have featured some of the NFL’s most dominant offensive lines over the past few seasons, particularly during their run to back-to-back Super Bowl appearances in 2013 and 2014.
The Seahawks began to take shape as a contender in the NFL in 2012 after adding several key pieces to their offensive line, including All-Pro left tackle Russell Okung and Pro Bowl center Max Unger. The following season, they added another Pro Bowler in right tackle Breno Giacomini and solidified their position as one of the league’s top offensive lines. They would go on to win Super Bowl XLVIII that year, led by an offensive line that allowed just 24 sacks during the regular season (tied for 3rd fewest in the NFL) and helped Marshawn Lynch rush for 1,200 yards (4th most in the NFL).
The Seahawks’ offensive line took a bit of a step back in 2015 after losing Unger to retirement and Giacomini to free agency, but they still managed to rank 9th in sacks allowed (32) and 10th in rushing yards (1,742). They followed that up with another solid season in 2016, ranking 8th in sacks allowed (33) and 12th in rushing yards (1,671).
The 2017 season was arguably the best yet for the Seahawks’ offensive line. Led by All-Pro left tackle Duane Brown and Pro Bowlers Justin Britt and Germain Ifedi, they allowed just 23 sacks (2nd fewest in the NFL) and helped Seattle’s running backs rush for 1,304 yards (6th most in the NFL). They were also a big reason why quarterback Russell Wilson was able to set a new franchise record with 34 touchdown passes.
The Seahawks’ offensive line took another step back in 2018 after losing several key starters to retirement or free agency, but they still managed to rank 12th in sacks allowed (40) and 13th in rushing yards (1,549).
Looking to rebound from a down year in 2018, the Seahawks made some changes to their offensive line heading into the 2019 season. They drafted left tackle Mekhi Becton with their first-round pick and picked up right tackle Brandon Shell in free agency. The result was an improved unit that helped Wilson set new career highs with 34 touchdown passes and a passer rating of 110.9 while also clearing the way for 1,230 rushing yards (5th most in the NFL).
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens are an American football team based in Baltimore, Maryland. They are a member of the National Football League (NFL) and the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. The Ravens were established in 1996, and play their home games at M&T Bank Stadium. Lamar Jackson is their starting quarterback.
Lamar Jackson
Lamar Jackson is an American football quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Louisville and was selected by the Ravens in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Lamar Jackson is one of only two quarterbacks to average at least 300 passing yards and 60 rushing yards per game in a season, along with Michael Vick. In his first full season as a starter, Jackson led the Ravens to a franchise-best 14–2 record and was named the 2019 NFL MVP.
Ravens’ offensive line
As a team, the Baltimore Ravens had the second fewest sacks allowed in 2020 with 22, only behind the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 21. This was despite having the sixth most pass attempts in the NFL. Individually, franchise quarterback Lamar Jackson was only sacked 16 times on Vaughn McClure of ESPN. In fact, according to Pro Football Focus, Jackson had the lowest percentage of sackable plays out of any quarterback in 2020.
This is a testament to not only Jackson’s elusiveness, but also the play of Baltimore’s offensive line. When considering how often Jackson was under pressure compared to other quarterbacks in 2020, he again ranked near the top according to PFF. Their metrics showed that Jackson had the fourth-lowest percentage of dropbacks where he was pressured and the sixth-lowest percentage of passing plays where he was kept clean in 2020.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the most QB pressures in the NFL 2020 season with 106. The San Francisco

Buccaneers’ offensive line
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offensive line is a group of professional American football offensive linemen who block for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense in the National Football League (NFL). They are typically grouped together as an offensive line, but may also refer to individual players.
Offensive tackle Donovan Smith and left guard Ali Marpet are the only two linemen to start all 16 games for the Buccaneers in 2020. Right guard Alex Cappa and center Ryan Jensen also started all 16 games, but did so for their previous teams; Cappa was traded to the Buccaneers in 2019, while Jensen signed as a free agent in 2020. 2020 first-round draft pick Tristan Wirfs started 15 games at right tackle as a rookie.
Theline struggled early on in the season, allowing 21 sacks over the first six games. However, they improved significantly over the second half of the season and only allowed 13 sacks over the final 10 games. Wirfs was named to the NFL All-Rookie team, while Smith and Jensen were both named to the Pro Bowl.
Green Bay Packers
As of right now, the Green Bay Packers are leading the NFL in QB pressures. With a total of 36 through six weeks, they’re on pace to finish the season with a whopping 72 total pressures. That would be good for second all-time, behind only the 77 pressures the Houston Texans had in 2018.
Aaron Rodgers
Rodgers has been excellent under pressure this season. He’s thrown 36 touchdown passes and just four interceptions while being pressured, according to NFL Next Gen Stats. His 95.6 passer rating when under duress is the second best in the NFL, behind only Patrick Mahomes.
Packers’ offensive line
The Packers’ offensive line is a group of seven players who block for the Green Bay Packers American football team. They are in charge of protecting quarterback Aaron Rodgers from getting sacked by the defense.
This season, the Packers’ offensive line has been one of the best in the NFL. They have only given up 14 sacks so far, which is tied for second-fewest in the league. They have also helped create time for Rodgers to throw 47 touchdown passes, which is an NFL record.
The Packers’ offensive line is made up of left tackle David Bakhtiari, left guard Elgton Jenkins, center Corey Linsley, right guard Lane Taylor, right tackle Rick Wagner, and tight ends Marcedes Lewis and Robert Tonyan. All seven players have been selected to the Pro Bowl this season, which is a first for any team in NFL history.
