Who Leads The NFL MVP Race?
Contents
With the NFL season halfway over, we take a look at the leading candidates for MVP and make our predictions for who will take home the hardware.
Tom Brady
Through eleven weeks, there’s been a bit of a change at the top of our NFL MVP rankings. Tom Brady, who has been the favorite for most of the season, now finds himself in the lead. Lamar Jackson, who has been electric for the Baltimore Ravens, is now in second place.
New England Patriots quarterback
Even with the New England Patriots’ down year, quarterback Tom Brady is still in the running for MVP honors. He has had another stellar season, throwing for 4,335 yards and 26 touchdowns with just eight interceptions. Brady’s play has been a big reason why the Patriots are still in contention for a playoff spot.
Brady is a three-time MVP and is a leading candidate for the award again this year. He is up against stiff competition from Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott, but Brady has put up numbers that are hard to ignore.
If the Patriots can make a run to the Super Bowl, it will be tough to deny Brady his fourth MVP award.
Six-time Super Bowl champion
Former sixth-round pick out of Michigan, Tom Brady is the only player in NFL history to win six Super Bowls. He’s also a three-time MVP and a 14-time Pro Bowler. Brady has played in nine Super Bowls, more than any other player in NFL history.
Aaron Rodgers
The NFL MVP race is a close one this year, but there is one clear leader: Aaron Rodgers. The Green Bay Packers quarterback has been playing at an extremely high level all season, and he has his team in position to make a run at the Super Bowl. Rodgers has thrown for 4,002 yards and 40 touchdowns, and he has also ran for four touchdowns. He has been the best player in the NFL this season, and he deserves to be the MVP.
Green Bay Packers quarterback
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers leads the NFL in touchdown passes and passer rating, and he ranks second in passing yards. He’s playing some of the best football of his life right now, and he has the Packers atop the NFC North. All of that makes him the heavy favorite to win his third career MVP award.
Two-time NFL MVP
Aaron Rodgers is a two-time NFL MVP, winning the award in 2011 and 2014. He is also a six-time Pro Bowl selection, and was named the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2011 and 2014. He currently plays for the Green Bay Packers.
Dak Prescott
The Dallas Cowboys quarterback is having an excellent sophomore campaign. Prescott has completed 67.7 percent of his passes for 2,835 yards and 18 touchdowns with just four interceptions. He’s also rushed for 96 yards and four touchdowns.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback
Dak Prescott has emerged as the front-runner for NFL MVP honors through the first 11 weeks of the 2020 season. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback has been phenomenal over that span, leading his team to an 8-3 record while throwing for 2,974 yards, 22 touchdowns and just four interceptions.
While there are a number of other contenders for the MVP award – including Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes – Prescott has been the most consistent and productive signal-caller in the league this season. He’s also been downright clutch, leading the Cowboys to five fourth-quarter comebacks.
With Prescott at the helm, the Cowboys offense is averaging 30.6 points per game, which ranks second in the NFL. Prescott is also completing 69.5 percent of his passes and has a passer rating of 102.7. He’s on pace for career highs in passing yards (4,560) and touchdowns (32).
Led the Cowboys to the NFC East title

He has also rushed for 586 yards and 3 touchdowns. Wilson is having one of the best seasons of his career and is deserving of the MVP award.
Seattle Seahawks quarterback
