The Milwaukee Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks entered the playoffs as the best team in the NBA. They had the best record in the league and were coming off a season in which they made it to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Bucks were favorites to win the NBA title, but they were upset in the first round of the playoffs by the Miami Heat.
The Miami Heat
The Miami Heat are an American professional basketball team based in Miami. The Heat compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Southeast Division. They play their home games at the American Airlines Arena, and have won three NBA championships.
The players that were left in the playoffs
The NBA Playoffs are down to the last four teams: the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Houston Rockets, and the Denver Nuggets. We’re going to take a look at the players that were left in the playoffs and see how they got here.
LeBron James
LeBron James was born on December 30, 1984, in Akron, Ohio. As a high school sophomore, he helped lead his team to a state championship. After graduating, he was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers as the first overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. James quickly became one of the league’s top players, winning Rookie of the Year honors in 2004. He also helped guide the Cavaliers to their first-ever NBA Finals appearance in 2007.
In 2010, James made headlines when he announced that he was leaving the Cavaliers to join the Miami Heat. He teamed up with fellow All-Stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to form a formidable “Big Three.” The trio led the Heat to NBA titles in 2012 and 2013.
After four seasons in Miami, James announced that he was returning home to play for the Cavaliers once again. In 2016, he delivered on his promise to bring a championship to Cleveland, leading the Cavaliers to an improbable come-from-behind victory over the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. That year, James was named MVP of the Finals for a record third time. The following season, he helped the Cavaliers repeat as champions, cementing his legacy as one of basketball’s all-time greats.
Kawhi Leonard
Kawhi Leonard was an American professional basketball player for the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was drafted by the Spurs with the 15th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft. Leonard played two seasons of college basketball for the San Diego State Aztecs before being selected in the draft. Born and raised in Riverside, California, Leonard wanted to play locally for either UCLA or USC; however, both schools wished for him to play one more year of collegiate basketball.
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Giannis Antetokounmpo is a Greek professional basketball player for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is the Bucks’ leading scorer and rebounder, and also ranks second in assists per game. Standing at 6 feet 11 inches (2.11 m) and weighing 242 pounds (110 kg), he plays the small forward and power forward positions.
Jimmy Butler
Jimmy Butler (born September 14, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA). After playing one year of college basketball for Tyler Junior College, he transferred to Marquette University. Butler was drafted with the 30th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls. He was named to the NBA All-Star team in 2015 and 2016. In 2018, he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. In 2019, he led the Sixers to their first Eastern Conference Finals appearance since 2001. He was traded to the Miami Heat in 2019.
The fans that were left in the playoffs
Lebron James, Steph Curry, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant. All huge names in the NBA that have brought their teams to the playoffs time and time again. But this year, only two of them remain. The other two? They were both eliminated in the first round.
Lakers fans
When the Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated from the NBA playoffs, their fans were left feeling disappointed. The Lakers had a strong season, but they were unable to make it to the finals. Although they did not win the championship, their fans are still proud of them.
Clippers fans
Clippers fans were left disappointed when their team was knocked out of the playoffs in the first round.
Bucks fans
Bucks fans were left in the playoffs after their team was defeated by the Miami Heat.
Heat fans
As the Miami Heat get ready for their first playoff game against the Charlotte Hornets, their fans can’t help but think about what could have been.
The Heat were one of the most dominant teams in the regular season, winning a franchise-record 66 games. But they lost in the Finals to the San Antonio Spurs in five games, and it was a heart-breaking end to what had been such a promising season.
Now, as they start their playoff run, the Heat are thinking about redemption. And their fans are right there with them, hoping that this will be the year that they finally get over the hump and win another championship.
