In 2017, he captured his second Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP after helping lead Pittsburgh to their fifth Stanley Cup Championship.[3] That summer he captained Team Canada at World Cup of Hockey tournament where they successfully defended title they captured two years prior defeating Team Europe 2-0 prize.[4] For regular season play Crosby again led all players scoring 44 goals &89 points en route to him winning his third consecutive Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy sharing it alongside Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid who also had 44 goals.[5][6]
