Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavs are scheduled to play the Brooklyn Nets at home tonight. As of right now, it is unclear who will be available to play for the Cavaliers. Kevin Love, George Hill, and Rodney Hood are all nursing injuries and their status for tonight’s game is unknown. However, Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue said he expects all three players to suit up and give it a go. With that being said, we will most likely see a lineup of LeBron James, Kyle Korver, Jeff Green, Channing Frye, and Tristan Thompson out on the court for Cleveland.
Toronto Raptors
The Toronto Raptors are a professional basketball team based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Raptors compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as a member club of the league’s Eastern Conference Atlantic Division. The team was founded in 1995 as part of the NBA’s expansion into Canada, along with the Vancouver Grizzlies. When the Grizzlies relocated to Memphis, Tennessee to become the Memphis Grizzlies in 2001, the Raptors became the only Canadian-based team in the NBA.
The Raptors play their home games at Scotiabank Arena, which they share with the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL). The team was established in 1995, along with the Vancouver Grizzlies, as part of star American basketball player Michael Jordan’s push to bring two more NBA teams into Canada later that decade. In their 24 years since being founded, they have qualified for 10 playoffs appearances and won four Atlantic Division championships—in 2007–08, 2014–15, 2015–16, and 2018–19. Led by Kawhi Leonard and Kyle Lowry, Toronto reached their first NBA Finals appearance during their sixth season in 2018 against defending champions from Golden State Warriors; this resulted in their first ever NBA championship victory in franchise history after defeating them in six games.
Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics are a professional basketball team based in Boston, Massachusetts. They play in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Atlantic Division. Founded in 1946 as one of the league’s eight original teams, the Celtics play their home games at TD Garden, which they share with the National Hockey League (NHL)’s Boston Bruins.
Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets are an American professional basketball team based in Houston, Texas. The Rockets compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Southwest Division. The team plays its home games at the Toyota Center, located in downtown Houston. The Rockets have won four Western Conference titles and two NBA championships while in Houston, and are the only team in NBA history to win more than 50 games in six straight seasons.
Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder are an American professional basketball team based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Thunder competes in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Northwest Division. The team plays its home games at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
The Thunder was originally established as the Seattle SuperSonics, an expansion team that began play in 1967. Following the relocation of the team to Oklahoma City in 2008, it was renamed the Oklahoma City Thunder. In 2010, the Thunder won their first Western Conference championship, representing the first time the franchise had advanced to the NBA Finals since 1996 and appearing in only their second finals appearance since 1979. They then represented the Western Conference again in 2012 before losing to eventual NBA champion Miami Heat in five games and failing to repeat as conference champions.
San Antonio Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs are an American professional basketball team based in San Antonio, Texas. The Spurs compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Southwest Division. The team plays its home games at the AT&T Center in San Antonio.
The Spurs have won five NBA championships, with their first coming in 1999 and their most recent in 2014. As of 2019, the Spurs have the fifth-best winning percentage among all NBA teams.
Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors are an American professional basketball team based in Oakland, California. The Warriors compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Pacific Division. Founded in 1946 in Philadelphia, the Warriors relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1962 and took the city’s name, before changing its geographic moniker to Golden State in 1971. They play their home games at the Chase Center.
The Warriors won the inaugural Basketball Association of America (BAA) championship in 1947, and won its last championship prior to the formation of the NBA, in 1956. Golden State has appeared in 27 NBA Finals, winning five NBA championships in 1947, 1956, 1975, 2015, and 2017. With five wins from eleven appearances, the Warriors are tied with the San Antonio Spurs; both teams trail only the Boston Celtics (17) and Los Angeles Lakers (16) for having made more NBA Finals appearances than any other team since 1947. The Warrior’s dynasty of 2015–present is noted for having reached several milestones: setting an NBA record of 73 victories during their regular 82-game season; winning their first championship since 1975; winning their first title since relocating to California; and earning Steve Kerr his first title as a head coach after previously being part of five more as an assistant coach with three teams. Kerr is also notable for leading them to set an all-time Regular Season record 73–9 win–loss mark that stood until it was broken by his former team –the 2016–17 Chicago Bulls –that later went on to post a 72–10 win–loss season themselves.
Los Angeles Clippers
The Los Angeles Clippers are an American professional basketball team based in Los Angeles, California. The Clippers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Pacific Division. The Clippers play their home games at Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles, an arena shared with fellow NBA team the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA).
The franchise was founded in 1970 as the Buffalo Braves, one of three expansion teams to join the NBA that year. The Braves moved from Buffalo, New York to San Diego, California in 1978 and became known as the San Diego Clippers. In 1984, The Braves became ill-fated members of Donald Sterling’s Sterling Vineyards family. In 1985 Sterling disassociated himself from this franchise and moved it to LA where it became known as the LA Clippers. In 1991, Sterling was fined for making discriminatory statements about African-Americans which ultimately forced him to sell his franchise.
Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings are an American professional basketball team based in Sacramento, California. The Kings compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Western Conference’s Pacific Division. The Kings are the only team in the major professional North American sports leagues located in Sacramento. The team plays its home games at the Golden 1 Center. Their best seasons to date in the city were in the early 2000s, including the 2001–02 season when they had the best record in the NBA at 61–21.
The Sacramento Kings began play as the Rochester Royals, a charter member of the National Basketball League (NBL) founded in 1946. They joined the NBA along with four other NBL teams –the Fort Wayne Pistons, Minneapolis Lakers, Indiana Pacers and Syracuse Nationals –in 1949 when the NBL dissolved and merged with what would become known as the NBA. A blockbuster trade sent six-time NBA All-Star Chris Webber to the Kings from those same Warriors two years later.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers are an American professional basketball team based in Los Angeles. The Lakers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as a member of the league’s Western Conference in the Pacific Division. The Lakers play their home games at Staples Center, an arena shared with the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women’s National Basketball Association. The Lakers are one of the most successful teams in the history of the NBA, and have gained a large fanbase worldwide.
