The NBA playoffs are in full swing and there are some great matchups on tap for tonight. Here’s a look at who’s playing and what you can expect.
Eastern Conference
The Eastern Conference playoffs are underway with the Indiana Pacers and the Milwaukee Bucks facing off. The winner of this series will take on the Boston Celtics or the Philadelphia 76ers in the next round. The Celtics and 76ers are currently tied at 2-2.
Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics are a professional basketball team based in Boston, Massachusetts. They are part of the Eastern Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Celtics play their home games at the TD Garden, which they share with the National Hockey League (NHL)’s Boston Bruins. The Celtics are one of the most successful teams in NBA history; they have won the most championships of any NBA franchise with 17, accounting for 23.9 percent of all NBA championships since the league’s founding in 1947.
Toronto Raptors
The Toronto Raptors are a Canadian professional basketball team based in Toronto, Ontario. The Raptors compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as a member club of the league’s Eastern Conference Atlantic Division. The team was established in 1995, along with the Vancouver Grizzlies, as part of the NBA’s expansion into Canada.
Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers are an American professional basketball team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The 76ers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Atlantic Division and play at the Wells Fargo Center. The 76ers have won three NBA championships, with their first coming as the Syracuse Nationals in 1955. The second title came in the 1966–67 season, a team which was led by Chamberlain. The third title came in the 1982–83 season, won by a team led by Erving and Malone. They have only been back to the NBA Finals once since then, during the 2001 campaign led by Iverson

In recent years however, they have established themselves as one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, led by stars such as Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. They have made the playoffs each of the last three seasons, and are currently looking to make a deep run in 2019
Milwaukee Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks are an American professional basketball team based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Bucks compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Central Division. The team was founded in 1968 as an expansion team, and play at the Fiserv Forum. Former U.S. Senator Herb Kohl was the long-time owner of the team, but on April 16, 2014, a group led by billionaire hedge fund managers Wesley Edens and Marc Lasry agreed to purchase a majority interest in the team from Kohl, a sale which was approved by the owners of the NBA and its Board of Governors one month later on May 16. The new owners financed the purchase with $550 million in debt and hired head coach Mike Budenholzer May 17, 2018.
Western Conference
The Western Conference playoff bracket is set. In the opening round, the matchups are the Houston Rockets vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Golden State Warriors vs. the San Antonio Spurs, the Los Angeles Clippers vs. the Utah Jazz, and the Memphis Grizzlies vs. the Portland Trail Blazers.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors are currently in the playoffs and are playing against the Houston Rockets. The Warriors are the better team and are expected to win.
Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets are an American professional basketball team based in Houston, Texas. The Rockets compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference South Division. The team plays its home games at the Toyota Center, located in downtown Houston. Throughout the Rockets’ history, they have won two NBA championships and four Western Conference titles.
Portland Trail Blazers
The Portland Trail Blazers, commonly known as the Blazers, are an American professional basketball team based in Portland, Oregon. The Trail Blazers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Northwest Division. The franchise was founded in 1970, and played its home games in Memorial Coliseum before moving to Moda Center in 1995 (called the Rose Garden until 2013). The team has advanced to the NBA Finals three times, winning the NBA championship once in 1977. Their other NBA Finals appearances were in 1990 and 1992. The team has also played in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament twice, and made one appearance in the NBA G League, previously known as the Continental Basketball Association (CBA).
Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder are a professional basketball team based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Thunder compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Northwest Division. The team plays its home games at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
The Thunder were formerly known as the Seattle SuperSonics, an NBA franchise founded in 1967. The SuperSonics moved from Seattle to Oklahoma City in 2008 after a settlement was reached between the ownership group led by Clay Bennett and lawmakers in Seattle. The team itself announced it would rebrand itself the Oklahoma City Thunder upon relocation.
