Introduction

The National Football League (NFL) is a professional American football league consisting of 32 teams, divided equally between the National Football Conference (NFC) and the American Football Conference (AFC). The NFL is one of the four major North American professional sports leagues, the highest professional level of American football in the world.

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers are a professional American football team based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Packers compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) North division. It is the third-oldest franchise in the NFL, dating back to 1919, and is the only non-profit, community-owned major league professional sports team based in the United States. Home games have been played at Lambeau Field since 1957.

The Packers are the last of the “small town teams” which were common in the NFL during the league’s early days of 1922 and 1933. Founded in 1919 by Earl “Curly” Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun, the franchise traces its lineage to other semi-professional teams in Green Bay dating back to 1896. Between 1919 and 1920, the Packers competed against other semi-pro clubs from around Wisconsin and Michigan. They joined the American Professional Football Association (APFA), the forerunner of today’s NFL, in 1921. Although Green Bay is by far the smallest major league professional sports market in North America, Forbes ranked it as the world’s 26th most valuable sports franchise in 2016, with a value of $2.35 billion.

Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears are a professional American football team based in Chicago, Illinois. The Bears compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) North division. The Bears have won nine NFL Championships, including one Super Bowl, and hold the NFL record for the most enshrinees in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the most retired jersey numbers. The Bears have also recorded more victories than any other NFL franchise.

Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions are a professional American football team based in Detroit, Michigan. They are members of the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) North division. The team plays its home games at Ford Field in Downtown Detroit.

The Lions compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) North division. They are one of four current teams to have not won an NFL championship since the 1950 AFL–NFL merger (joining the Vince Lombardi-era Green Bay Packers, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens). The Lions have won four NFL Championships, tied for 9th overall in total championships amongst all 32 NFL franchises; although they have yet to win a championship since 1957. Their playoff appearance drought is currently at 26 seasons, having not made an appearance since 1993 and having only made two appearances since winning their last NFL Championship in 1957. From 1941 to 1958, the Lions held a league-record 11 NFL titles and appeared in 12 NFL Championship games—more than any other team during that 13-year span. They currently rank third among all active NFL franchises for combined wins and losses (.563), having reached five of nine possible conference championship games through their first 90 seasons from 1930–2019 (.556).

Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings are a professional American football team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Vikings joined the National Football League (NFL) as an expansion team in 1960, and first took the field for the 1961 season. The team competes in the National Football Conference (NFC) North division.
The Vikings played their home games at Metropolitan Stadium from 1961 to 1981 and at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome from 1982 to 2013.

Conclusion

The NFL regular season usually starts the week after Labor Day and ends in December or early January. So there are usually about 16 games played each week during the NFL regular season. But some weeks there are 17 games played because one team has a “bye” that week and isn’t playing. The “bye” weeks are spread out pretty evenly so that each team has a “break” in their schedule (and can rest up for their next game).
