The Atlantic Division
Comprised of the Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, and Toronto Raptors, the AtlanticDivision is one of the three divisions in the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Atlantic Division was created prior to the 1970-1971 season when the NBA realigned and expanded from six to fourteen teams with the addition of the Buffalo Braves, Cleveland Cavaliers, Portland Trail Blazers and Milwaukee Bucks.
The Central Division
The Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, and Milwaukee Bucks make up the Central Division of the Eastern Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
The Southeast Division
The Southeast Division is a division of the Eastern Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The division consists of five teams: the Charlotte Hornets, the Atlanta Hawks, the Miami Heat, the Orlando Magic, and the Washington Wizards. The Southeast Division began as the Atlantic Division in the NBA’s inaugural season of 1946-47.
While all five Southeast teams have made at least one appearance in an NBA Finals series, only three have won an NBA championship: the Miami Heat (5), the Washington Wizards (1), and the Atlanta Hawks (1). The Charlotte Hornets are the only team in the division that has not yet reached an NBA Finals series.
The Western Conference
In the Western Conference, the Los Angeles Lakers are playing the Portland Trail Blazers. The Lakers are currently in first place in the conference with a record of 49-14. The Trail Blazers are in third place with a record of 42-21. This should be a good game!
The Southwest Division
The Southwest Division of the Western Conference is made up of five teams: the Dallas Mavericks, the Houston Rockets, the Memphis Grizzlies, the New Orleans Pelicans and the San Antonio Spurs. All five teams are based in the southern United States.
The Southwest Division is one of the most competitive divisions in the NBA. The Dallas Mavericks are the reigning division champions, but the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs have both won division titles in recent years.
The Southwest Division is also home to some of the best players in the NBA. This season, Houston Rockets guard James Harden is leading the league in scoring, while Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki is one of the best shooters in NBA history.
The Northwest Division
The Northwest Division of the Western Conference is made up of five teams: the Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, Portland Trail Blazers, and Utah Jazz.
The Northwest Division was created in 2004 when the NBA decided to realign its divisions in order to better reflect the geographical locations of its teams.
The division has seen a wide variety of teams win its title over the years. The most successful team in the division is the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have won the division seven times (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017).
The Pacific Division
The Pacific Division is composed of five teams: the Golden State Warriors, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Phoenix Suns, and the Sacramento Kings. These five teams are all located in the Western United States. The division was created when the NBA realigned its teams in 2004.
The NBA Finals
The National Basketball Association (NBA) Finals is the championship series of the NBA and the conclusion of the sport’s postseason. All NBA Finals have been played under the best-of-seven format, with the team holding home-court advantage in games 1, 2, 5, and 7 hosting games 3, 4, and 6. The winning team of the series receives the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy.
Since 1985 when L.A. Lakers beat Boston Celtics in a best of seven finals, home teams are 122-60 (.670) in Game 7s played in the NBA Finals.
The home team has won each of the last five Game 7s in the NBA Finals:
