The Teams
The New England Patriots
The New England Patriots are a professional American football team based in the Greater Boston region. The Patriots compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays its home games at Gillette Stadium in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts, which is 28 miles (45 km) southwest of Boston.
The Patriots are also headquartered at Gillette Stadium. An original member of the American Football League (AFC), the Patriots joined the NFL in 1970 as part of the AFL–NFL merger. The team changed its name from the original Boston Patriots after relocating to Foxborough in 1971.
The Patriots have appeared in nine Super Bowls, winning five of them all with Tom Brady at quarterback. With Brady as quarterback and Bill Belichick as head coach, New England has compiled a winning percentage of .829, which is an NFL record for any starting quarterback and head coach combination who have played together for at least 25 games through the 2014 season. Belichick has been with New England for all five dynasty wins, while Kraft has owned them since 1994.
The Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins play in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays its home games at Hard Rock Stadium in the northern suburb of Miami Gardens, Florida. The Dolphins and the New England Patriots are tied for the second most Super Bowl appearances in history with five each. The Dolphins are currently coached by Brian Flores.
The Players
Tonight on NFL Monday Night Football, the Indianapolis Colts will take on the New York Jets. Both teams have had their fair share of injuries this season, but that’s no excuse not to tune in to this exciting match-up. Here are the players to look out for on both sides.

The Patriots played their home games at Foxboro Stadium from 1971 to 2001, then moved to Gillette Stadium at the start of the 2002 season.
The Patriots’ rivalry with the New York Jets is considered one of the fiercest and most well-known rivalries in the NFL. Since 2001, [the two teams have met], with [the Patriots] winning [seven] times and [the Jets] winning [four] times. The Patriots have appeared in ten Super Bowls (winning six) since 1986, more than any other NFL team; their most recent victory came in Super Bowl LIII on February 3, 2019, when they defeated the Los Angeles Rams 13–3 for their sixth Lombardi Trophy and their second consecutive and ninth overall championship title overall (tying them with Pittsburgh for second behind Green Bay’s 13).
The Dolphins’ Players
The Miami Dolphins are a professional American football team based in the Miami metropolitan area. The Dolphins compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The Dolphins play their home games at Hard Rock Stadium in the northern suburb of Miami Gardens, Florida, and are headquartered in Davie, Florida.
The Dolphins were founded by attorney-politician Joe Robbie and actor-comedian Danny Thomas. They began play in the AFL in 1966. The region had not had a professional football team since the days of the Miami Seahawks, who played in the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) from 1946 to 1949, when they merged with the AAFC Cleveland Browns. For the first few years, there was no official mascot, but some players suggested “Sebastian the Ibis”, a coastal bird which lives in nearby Everglades National Park; other suggestions included more traditional dolphin mascots and a pig wearing a helmet (in tribute to Thomas’ hit TV series The Danny Thomas Show). Mascots apartheid finally ended with NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle’s acceptance of San Diego Chicken as an official league bird.[1] The dolphin mascot was named “Snowflake” by then owner Joe Robbie.[2]
In 1971, linebacker Nick Buoniconti helped lead the team to an 11–3 record and its second Super Bowl appearance with a 24–3 win over the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl VI. He was named co-MVP of that game.[3][4] He later led Miami to two more consecutive Super Bowl victories under head coach Don Shula following seasons of 10–4 and 12–2 respectively. Buoniconti finished his career as a five-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro.[5]
Linebacker Arian Foster currently ranks fourth on the Dolphins’ all-time rushing list behind Larry Csonka, Mercury Morris, and Ricky Williams.[6] Defensive end Cameron Wake is sixth on sacks,[7] whilecornerback Andrés Martínez is tenth on INT return yards.[8]
The Game
Tonight, the NFL Monday Night Football game features two very good teams. The first team is the New England Patriots, who have been dominant all season. They have a great offense, led by quarterback Tom Brady, and a great defense. The second team is the Baltimore Ravens, who are also having a great season. They are led by their defense, which is considered one of the best in the NFL. This should be a great game to watch.
When and Where
The National Football League (NFL) regular season usually begins in September and ends in December or early January. Each team plays 16 games during the regular season. The NFL playoffs begin in January. Championship games are played in February at a site that is usually determined by who has the better record. In odd-numbered years, the AFC champions play the NFC champions in the Super Bowl.
