Who Plays Who in the NFL Playoffs?

The NFL playoffs are upon us and it’s time to start making your predictions for who will win it all! Here’s a look at the matchups and who we think will come out on top.

AFC

The American Football Conference (AFC) is one of two conferences within the National Football League (NFL), the other being the National Football Conference (NFC). The AFC was formed in 1970 as a result of the AFL–NFL merger.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are a professional American football team based in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The Patriots compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays its home games at Gillette Stadium, an original member of the American Football League (AFL). Founded as the Boston Patriots in 1959, the team changed its name to the Bay State Patriots after relocating to Foxborough in 1971. The regional fan base includes portions of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

The Patriots have appeared in the Super Bowl ten times in franchise history, winning six of them. The franchise has also won seventeen AFC East championships (including eleven consecutive titles from 2003 to 2013), thirteen conference championships (nine AFC, four Super Bowl), and nine division championships (six AFC East, three AFC). As of 2019, the team has an ongoing postseason streak of eighteen consecutive seasons. Throughout their history, the Patriots have had 28 head coaches and two general managers.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are a professional American football team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They are members of the AFC North division of the NFL. The Steelers have won more Super Bowl titles than any other team, and are tied with the New England Patriots for the most conference championships.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars are a professional football franchise that plays in the National Football League (NFL). The Jaguars are based in Jacksonville, Florida, and play their home games at TIAA Bank Field. The franchise was founded in 1993 as an expansion team and has won two AFC titles (1998 and 2017). The Jaguars are owned by Shad Khan, who also owns the Fulham Football Club of the English Premier League.

The Jaguars have had some success in recent years, making the playoffs five times since 2008. They have also been to the AFC Championship game twice, losing to the New England Patriots in 1996 and 2018.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division. The team was founded in 1960 as the Dallas Texans by businessman Lamar Hunt and was a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). In 1963, the team relocated to Kansas City and assumed their current name. The Chiefs joined the NFL as a result of the merger in 1970. The team is valued at over $2 billion.

NFC

The National Football Conference (NFC) is one of the two conferences of the National Football League (NFL), the highest professional level of American football in the world. The NFC comprises 16 teams, 13 of which are located in the contiguous United States and three in Canada.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles have had a roller coaster of a season. They started off hot, then dropped some games, and then picked back up again. They are currently the second seed in the NFC and will have a first-round bye in the playoffs. They are led by quarterback Carson Wentz, who is having an MVP-caliber season. The Eagles offense is one of the best in the league, and their defense is also very good. They are a team to be reckoned with in the playoffs.

Minnesota Vikings

The NFC playoffs are set, and we know who’s playing who. The first game on Saturday will be the Minnesota Vikings at the Green Bay Packers. The NFC Championship game will be on Sunday, January 24th. Here’s a look at the match-ups:

You knew this was going to happen. It’s practically destiny at this point. The Packers and Vikings have played each other in the playoffs four times since 2004, and this will be the fifth meeting in that span. The most recent meeting was in 2016, when the Packers won 38-25 en route to the NFC Championship game.

Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are a professional American football team that compete in the National Football League (NFL). The Rams franchise was founded in 1936 as the Cleveland Rams in the short-lived second American Football League before joining the NFL the next year. In 1946, the franchise moved to Los Angeles. The Rams franchise remained in the metro area until 1994, when they moved to St. Louis. The Rams franchise returned to Los Angeles in 2016.

The Rams play their home games at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, which they shared with the Los Angeles Chargers from 2019 to 2020.

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Saints currently compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) South division.
