On March 2, 1962, Chamberlain scored 100 points against the New York Knicks, a single-game record that still stands. The game was played in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and would come to be known as “The Hershey Clash”.

The contest was a close one for three quarters, with both teams exchanging the lead. Then, in the fourth quarter, Chamberlain took over. He scored 28 of his team’s 32 points in the quarter, including 16 in the last two minutes to secure the victory. When the final buzzer sounded, Chamberlain had tallied an incredible 100 points—a record that still stands today.

In addition to his legendary 100-point game, Chamberlain holds numerous NBA records. He is the only player to score 70 points in a game on more than one occasion, doing so seven times. He is also the only player to score 60 or more points in a season-high eight games. Chamberlain holds the record for the most points in asingle game, having scored 100 points against the New York Knicks on March 2, 1962.

He also holds the record for scoring the most points in a single season, averaging 50.4 points per game in 1961-62. In his career, Chamberlain scored at least 40 points in 118 games, at least 50 points in 85 games, and at least 60 points in 20 games. He also holds records for the most field goals made and attempted in a single game, season, and career.

Kobe Bryant

Kobe Brynt, shooting guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, scored an unprecedented 100 points in an NBA game against the Toronto Raptors on January 22, 2006. This spectacular feat was accomplished in only three quarters of playing time.

On January 22, 2006, Kobe Bryant scored 100 points in a 122–104 victory over the Toronto Raptors, becoming the youngest player (at 28 years, 163 days old) as well as the only player in franchise history to score 100 points in a single game. It was the second-most points scored in an NBA game behind Wilt Chamberlain’s record of 100.

Bryant scored his 100 points on 62 shots, going 28-for-46 from the field, 3-of-10 from three-point range and 11-for-15 from the foul line. He also had six assists and five rebounds. The Lakers outscored the Raptors 27–19 in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

On March 28, 1990, Michael Jordan set the NBA record for most points scored in a single game when he tallied up an astonishing 100 points against the hapless New Jersey Nets. The game was a rout from the start, with Jordan and the Bulls building up a 65-39 lead by halftime. But it was in the second half when Jordan really took over, scoring an incredible 55 points. When the final buzzer sounded, the Bulls had won 169-147, and Jordan had made history.

In the 1986 season, Jordan scored an NBA-record 3,041 points, becoming the first player in NBA history to average more than 30 points per game for an entire season (30.1 ppg). He was also named Most Valuable Player for the season. In the playoffs that year, he averaged an NBA postseason-record 35.0 points per game as he led his team to within one victory of the NBA Finals.
