Who’s Still In The Playoffs? NFL Edition

It’s that time of year again! Time to find out who’s still in the playoffs and who’s been eliminated. Here’s a look at the NFL edition.

NFC

The National Football Conference (NFC) is a professional American football conference of the National Football League (NFL). It currently consists of sixteen teams, eight of which are in the playoffs. The NFC is one of the two conferences of the NFL, the other being the American Football Conference (AFC).

Seattle Seahawks

As of right now, the Seattle Seahawks are still in the running for the playoffs. They are currently in 2nd place in their division with a record of 10-5. They have clinched a spot in the Wild Card round and will most likely be playing against the Dallas Cowboys.

Green Bay Packers

The Packers were already in the playoffs, but they clinched the NFC North with a 23-10 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are a professional American football team based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The Cowboys compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) East division. They are one of the most successful teams in the history of the NFL, having won eight Super Bowls, more than any other team.

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Saints currently compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member team of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) South division. The team was founded by John W. Mecom Jr., David Dixon, and the city of New Orleans on November 1, 1966. The Saints began play in Tulane Stadium in 1967.

The name “Saints” is an allusion to November 1 being All Saints Day in the Catholic faith, as New Orleans has a large Catholic population.Their primary colors are old gold and black; their logo is a simplified fleur-de-lis. They played their home games in Tulane Stadium through the 1974 NFL season. The following year, they began playing their home games in the new Louisiana Superdome (now named the Mercedes-Benz Superdome).

The franchise was founded on November 1, 1966.[8] The team’s primary colors are old gold and black,[9] its logo is a simplified fleur-de-lis.[10] They played their home games in Tulane Stadium through the 1974 NFL season.[11]

AFC

The American Football Conference (AFC) is one of the two conferences of the National Football League (NFL), the highest professional level of American football in the world. As of 2020, there are 16 teams in the AFC. Let’s take a look at who’s still in the playoffs.

Baltimore Ravens

As the current Number 1 ranking team in the AFC, the Baltimore Ravens have already clinched their division and a playoff berth. They have also clinched a first-round bye. They are currently in contention for the top seed in the AFC and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are a professional American football team based in the Greater Boston area. The Patriots compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays its home games at Gillette Stadium in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts, which is located 28 miles (45 km) southwest of downtown Boston.

The Patriots are also headquartered at Gillette Stadium. An original member of the American Football League (AFL), the Patriots joined the NFL in 1970 as part of the AFL–NFL merger. The team changed its name from the original Boston Patriots after relocating to Foxborough in 1971. The Patriots played their home games at Foxboro Stadium from 1971 to 2001, then moved to Gillette Stadium at the start of 2002. The Patriots’ rivalry with the New York Jets is considered one of the most bitter rivalries in NFL history.[9][10]

The franchise has appeared in five Super Bowls in franchise history, all of which have been held at various stadiums in Miami: Super Bowls XX, XXXI, XXXVI, XLII, and XLVI. The Patriots own the record for most Super Bowl appearances (nine) and winningest Super Bowl coach (Bill Belichick).

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division. The team was founded in 1960 as the Dallas Texans by businessman Lamar Hunt and was a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). In 1963, the team relocated to Kansas City and assumed their current name. The Chiefs joined the NFL as a result of the merger in 1970. The team is valued at over $2 billion.

Houston Texans

The Houston Texans are a professional football team based in Houston, Texas. They are members of the South Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The Texans joined the NFL in 2002 as an expansion team, making them the league’s 32nd franchise overall and the first franchise since the AFL-NFL merger to be located in Houston.
