Who Will Win the 2021 NFL MVP Award?

The 2021 NFL MVP award is up for grabs and there are a few leading contenders. Who will take home the hardware this year?

Tom Brady

Tom Brady is the current front runner for the 2021 NFL MVP award. He is having an amazing season and is on pace to break several records. Brady has shown that he can still play at a high level and is deserving of the MVP award.

Age

Tom Brady is currently 43 years old. He was born on August 3, 1977, in San Mateo, California. Brady has been the starting quarterback for the New England Patriots since 2001. He has led the team to nine Super Bowl appearances, winning seven of them. Brady is widely considered to be one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.

Brady is not getting any younger, but he shows no signs of slowing down. In 2020, he threw for 4,057 yards and 33 touchdowns. He also led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a Super Bowl victory. At 43, Brady became the oldest player to win a Super Bowl. There is no doubt that he is still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

The question is: can he keep it up? Only time will tell, but it would not be wise to bet against Brady.

Experience

The NFL MVP award is an annual honor given to the league’s most valuable player. The award was first given out in 1961, and since then, only six quarterbacks have won it more than once: Peyton Manning, Steve Young, Brett Favre, John Elway, Aaron Rodgers, and Tom Brady. Brady has won the award a record-setting three times and is the only player to have been named MVP in three different decades (2000s, 2010s, 2020s).

Brady’s first MVP award came in 2002 after leading the New England Patriots to a 12-4 record and a Super Bowl appearance. Brady threw for a then-career-high 4,300 yards and 26 touchdowns that season. He would go on to win MVP again in 2007 and 2010. In 2007, he led the Patriots to an unbeaten 16-0 regular season record before losing to the New York Giants in the Super Bowl. In 2010, Brady won his third MVP after throwing for 3,900 yards and 36 touchdowns with just four interceptions.

At 41 years old, Brady is still playing at a high level and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. He won his seventh Super Bowl last season and is currently leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to another strong season. If he can keep up this level of play, there’s no reason why he can’t win his fourth MVP award and further cement his legacy as the greatest quarterback of all time.

Record

Tom Brady has played in ten Super Bowls, winning seven of them. He is the only player to have won five Super Bowl MVPs, and he is also the oldest player to have been named Super Bowl MVP, at age 39. Brady has also been named NFL MVP three times, in 2007, 2010, and 2017.

Aaron Rodgers

The 2021 NFL MVP award isAaron Rodgers’ to lose. The Packers quarterback is having an incredible season and is leading his team to the playoffs. Rodgers has the best statistical season of his career and is the clear favorite to win the MVP award.

Age

Rodgers is currently 37 years old, which is quite young for an NFL quarterback. In fact, he’s the second-youngest player in the league at his position. He’s also one of the most experienced quarterbacks in the league, with 16 seasons under his belt.

Experience

Experience is always a factor when it comes to the NFL MVP award. In the last 10 years, only one player has won the award with less than five years of experience (Khalil Mack in 2016). In fact, the average number of years of experience for MVPs over that span is 7.6. That’s why it’s no surprise that the favorite to win the 2021 NFL MVP award is Aaron Rodgers, who has 16 years of experience under his belt.

The Packers quarterback is coming off a season in which he threw for 4,299 yards and 48 touchdowns with just five interceptions. He also added three rushing touchdowns. If he can put up similar numbers in 2021, he’ll be in prime position to win his third MVP award.

Record

In his 16 seasons in the NFL, Rodgers has a career regular-season record of 148-93-1 (.613), which is the 11th-best winning percentage among quarterbacks with at least 100 starts. In the playoffs, he is even better, going 13-7 (.650), including a 4-1 (.800) mark in NFC Championship Games. He has also thrown for 4,299 yards (second most), 35 touchdowns (tied for second most) and just six interceptions (tied for fewest) in 17 career playoff games.

Dak Prescott

Dak Prescott has had an incredible season so far and he is definitely a contender for the 2021 NFL MVP Award. He has thrown for over 4,000 yards and has a 70% completion rate. He has also rushed for over 500 yards and has 10 touchdowns.

Age

Dak Prescott is an American football quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for Mississippi State University. Prescott was drafted by the Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He has won several awards, including being named to the Pro Bowl twice. In 2020, he signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension with the Cowboys.

So far in his career, Dak Prescott has shown himself to be a very talented and successful quarterback. He is still young, and many people believe that he has a lot of potential to continue improving. At only 26 years old, Dak Prescott is one of the youngest quarterbacks in the NFL. This youthfulness could be an advantage for him in 2021 as he looks to win the NFL MVP award.

Experience

Prescott has been the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys since 2016, when he took over for an injured Tony Romo. He has led the Cowboys to a division title and two playoff appearances, including a trip to the NFC divisional round in 2018. In 2019, he was named to the Pro Bowl after throwing for 4,900 yards and 30 touchdowns. Prescott has also shown an ability to run the ball, totaling 1,357 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground in his career.

Record

Prescott has appeared in all 64 regular-season games for the Cowboys since he was drafted in 2016, and he’s started 63 of those contests. In four seasons, Prescott has completed 1,320 of 2,022 passes (65.2 percent) for 16,760 yards (8.3 yards per attempt), 127 touchdowns and 36 interceptions. He also has rushed 462 times for 2,521 yards (5.5 per carry) and 28 touchdowns.

In 2019, Prescott set career highs in passing yards (4,902), passing touchdowns (30), completion percentage (66.0) and passer rating (102.2). His 11 interceptions were a career low, as were his seven fumbles lost.

Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson is an American football quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). As of September 2020, Wilson has an NFL record of 118–36–1, for a regular season winning percentage of .766, and is second among quarterbacks with a career passer rating of 102.4. He is also the Seahawks’ all-time leading passer with 34,176 yards and 256 touchdowns. In 2012, Wilson joined Peyton Manning and Tom Brady as the only quarterbacks to throw for over 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns in their rookie seasons.

Age

In 2021, Russell Wilson will be 33 years old. This puts him in the age range of most NFL quarterbacks who have won the MVP award in recent years. In fact, the last two MVPs (Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson) were both younger than Wilson when they won the award.

Experience

Wilson has been one of the most consistent quarterbacks in the NFL since he entered the league in 2012. He’s missed the playoffs just once in his career, and he’s won at least 10 games in eight of his nine seasons. He’s also been extremely durable, only missing three games due to injury in his career. Wilson has started all 16 regular-season games in five of his nine seasons, including each of the last four years.

Record

In his nine seasons in the NFL, Wilson has compiled a 127–37–0 record as a starter, for a .774 winning percentage. Among quarterbacks who have started at least 100 games, only Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees have better winning percentages than Wilson. He has led his team to the playoffs in eight of his nine seasons (including each of the last seven), and guided them to victories in NFC Wild Card and Divisional Playoffs in back-to-back weeks on the road in 2016, becoming the first quarterback ever to do so. In addition, he is one of four quarterbacks to have posted a perfect record (6–0) in multiple postseason appearances (joining Terry Bradshaw, Troy Aikman and Joe Montana), and is one of two quarterbacks to win a conference championship game in each of his first three seasons starting (the other being Ben Roethlisberger). Wilson was also named Super Bowl MVP after leading the Seahawks to their first Super Bowl victory with a 43-8 defeat of the Denver Broncos at Super Bowl XLVIII.

Josh Allen

Josh Allen has put up some incredible numbers this season and has led the Buffalo Bills to an 11-3 record. He has thrown for 4,544 yards and 38 touchdowns while also rushing for seven touchdowns. He has shown that he can make plays with his arm and his legs, and he has been one of the most consistent quarterbacks in the league.

Age

Josh Allen is still only 24 years old. He’s younger than Justin Herbert, who was drafted first overall in 2020. He’s also younger than Patrick Mahomes, who was the MVP in 2018 and 2019. Kyler Murray, the reigning MVP, is just 23 years old.

Experience

Josh Allen will have a lot of experience under his belt heading into the 2021 NFL season. He is entering his fourth year in the league, and he has started all but one game over that span. He has also shown significant improvement each season, culminating in a Pro Bowl berth in 2020. This is the type of experience that can help a player take the next step and win the MVP award.
