George Blanda was the oldest player in NFL history, playing until he was 48. He was a quarterback and placekicker, playing for 26 seasons from 1949 to 1975.

He spent six years with Tampa Bay before signing with the Cleveland Browns as a free agent in 1993. Testaverde signed with the New York Jets in 1998 and became their starting quarterback after an injury to Glenn Foley midway through the season. Testaverde’s career record as a starter is 87–103 (.457).
Testaverde’s father was of Sicilian descent and his mother was of Cuban ancestry. His maternal grandparents emigrated from Cuba to Key West, Florida, where they worked as cigar rollers.
