The following season, he made his fourth straight All-Star appearance and averaged a career-high 25.2 points per game. In 2017–18, he was again named an All-Star as well as being voted unanimously to his first All-NBA First Team. After being traded to Boston following eight seasons with Cleveland, Irving helped lead the Celtics to their second playoff appearance in 14 years.

He went on to set an NBA record for most triple-doubles in a season with 42, en route to being named as that season’s MVP.

His parents divorced when he was young, and his father passed away when Jimmy was just 13 years old.
