Who Will Be In The Nba Finals?
Contents
It’s that time of year again! The NBA season is coming to a close and the playoffs are just around the corner. So, who do you think will be in the finals this year?
The teams
There are a lot of talented teams in the NBA, but only a few will make it to the finals. The Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers have been to the finals the past few years, and they are both looking strong again this year. Other teams that have a chance to make it to the finals include the Houston Rockets, the San Antonio Spurs, and the Boston Celtics.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers are an American professional basketball team based in Los Angeles. They compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Pacific Division. The Lakers play their home games at Staples Center, an arena shared with the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers and the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings. The Lakers are one of the most successful teams in the history of the NBA, and have won 16 NBA championships, their last being in 2010.
Franchise history
The Lakers franchise was founded in 1947 by businessman Ben Berger and attorney Maurice Podoloff as the Minneapolis Lakers (named after Minnesota’s nickname, “Land of 10,000 Lakes”), one of three professional basketball teams then in existence. coaster tycoon Walter O’Malley acquired the team in 1955 and moved them toLos Angeles, where they became known as the Los Angeles Lakers.
Milwaukee Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks are an American professional basketball team based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Bucks compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Central Division. The team was founded in 1968 as an expansion team, and play at the Fiserv Forum. Former U.S. Senator Herb Kohl was the long-time owner of the team, but on April 16, 2014, a group led by billionaire hedge fund managers Wes Edens and Marc Lasry agreed to purchase a majority interest in the team from Kohl, a sale which was approved by the NBA on May 15. The new owners appointed Jimboy Dolan as general manager.
Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors are an American professional basketball team based in Oakland, California. The Warriors compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as a member of the league’s Western Conference Pacific Division. Founded in 1946 in Philadelphia, the Warriors relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1962 and took the city’s name, before changing its geographic moniker to Golden State in 1971. They play their home games at the Oracle Arena in Oakland.
The Warriors won the NBA Championships in 1947, 1956 and 1975. In addition, they have reached the NBA Finals four times: 1947, 1956, 1967 and 2016. Winning their fourth title in 2017, the Warriors became the first team since the 1960s Celtics to win four titles within a span of eight seasons. With Steve Kerr as head coach and Stephen Curry leading a talented core of players that includes Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, they have set several NBA records. According to Forbes magazine, the Warriors are worth an estimated $3 billion- making them one of the most valuable sports franchises in history.
Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets are an American professional basketball team based in Houston, Texas. The Rockets compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member team of the league’s Western Conference Southwest Division. The team plays its home games at the Toyota Center, located in downtown Houston. The Rockets have won two NBA championships and four Western Conference titles. The team was established as the San Diego Rockets, an expansion team originally based in San Diego, in 1967. In 1971, the Rockets moved to Houston.
The Rockets won only 15 games in their debut season as a franchise in 1967. In the 1968 NBA draft, the Rockets, picking first overall, selected power forward Elvin Hayes, who would lead the team to its first playoff appearance in his rookie year. The Rockets did not finish a season with a winning record until the 1976–77 season when they traded for center Moses Malone. Malone went on to win the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) award twice and led Houston to the conference finals in his first year with the team. He also led the Rockets to a championship appearance in 1981.
In 1984, under head coach Bill Fitch, video coordinator Kevin McHale and general manager Toki Schayes (who would later be replaced by Carroll Dawson), the Rockets put together one of the best teams in franchise history. After draft picks Hakeem Olajuwon and Sam Cassell led them to an unexpectedly successful regular season, they lost out on top seeding to Malone’s Philadelphia 76ers because of a late-season swoon but still managed to make it back to the Finals for a rematch against familiar rivals Nowitzki’s Dallas Mavericks from 2006 and stunning them en route to their second title overall as well as their first since 1995 by winning 4 games to 2 after being down 0–2 giving head coach Rick Adelman his only championship as a head coach while going on retire at seasons end due largely part that owner Leslie Alexander was starting meddling with personnel matters that he had no business doing which resulted deterioration of Adelman-Alexander relationship resulting Adelman’s departure following 2012–2013 campaign where he would be succeeded by assistant Kevin McHale who would only last 3-1/2 seasons before being fired during 2015–16 campaign amid reports that he had lost his players trust and losing interest coaching following deaths of two close friends during offseason leaving assistant JB Bickerstaff to take over for remainder of season which resulted Bickerstaff being hired on permanently following 2015–16 campaign where he compiled 37–34 record while leading team back into playoffs losing five games against Golden State Warriors who would go on win their second straight title that year en route compiling 73–9 regular-season record becoming winningest team basketball history while setting numerous other records along way most notably becoming first team ever start playoffs 12–0 while winning all four playoff series 4 games none which is remarkable given that they had faced some stiff competition warriors way most notably Portland Trail Blazers western conference semifinals whom they barely edged out 4 games 3 eked passed Oklahoma City Thunder western conference finals Game 7 before dispatching defending champions Cleveland Cavaliers eastern conference finals rematch Finals comebacks Game 5 & 6 before putting away game 7 96–88 giving them third title 11 years well cementing themselves place among teams considered one greatest ever despite not having won back-to-back championships joining 1995–96 Chicago Bulls & 2000–01 Los Angeles Lakers whose legacies were tarnished somewhat those teams failing defend their titles following those seasons respectively though many experts analysts believe this Warriors squad has potential not only threepeat but possibly fourpeat especially if they can re-sign Durant kevin durant after he becomes free agent summer well retaining services Stephen curry Klay Thompson draymond green Andre Iguodala among others meaning could very well be case we see Warriors dynasty continue least next several years barring any unforeseen injuries major roster shakeups via trade or free agency course big if considering have seen teams before come close winning multiple championships only fall short doing so case mind most notably shall we say Boston Celtics teams 80s won titles 1981 1983 & 1984 respectively which also featured hall famers such names Larry Bird Kevin McHale Robert Parish Bill Walton & Dennis Johnson though injuries Walton well porous defense main reason Celtics failed repeat 1985 could’ve changed had Johnson not been injured steal attempt October 9 1987 which resulted him tearing his Achilles tendon missing remainder season including playoffs which proved costly Celtics times 1988 when fell short advancing Eastern Conference Finals losing Detroit Pistons Bad Boys whom Boston nearly knocked off 1986 playoffs will touch upon momentarily Lakers teams featuring Showtime core Magic Johnson James Worthy Kareem Abdul Jabbar Byron Scott Kurt Rambis A C Green Michael Cooper Mychal Thompson Pat Riley Head Coachobic Asst Harry Heinsohn won titles 1980 1982 1985 1987 & 1988 consecutively failing do so 1989 when fell short Eastern Conference Finals losing eventual champion Detroit Pistons whom incidentally eked past Celtics again reaching NBA Finals that year after Boston took them seven hard fought game series war between two bitter rivals which culminated events known collectively Battle Los Angeles sequence late Game 5 followed up fistfight Game 6 ensued between Isiah Thomas Dennis Rodman literally pull hair out over course those respective scuffles though some people felt bad Thomas got overshadowed Lawrence Larry Bird Magic Johnson matchup enjoy’d throughout 80s into early 90s those events laid foundation perhaps greatest individual rivalry basketball history live see day or any time soon
The players
This year’s NBA Finals will be between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Warriors are led by Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Klay Thompson. The Cavaliers are led by LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.
LeBron James
LeBron James is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is widely considered to be one of the greatest players in NBA history and has been praised for his unselfish play, physical strength, and court vision. Since his debut in 2003, James has been named an All-Star 16 times and has won four NBA championships. He was also a member of the USA men’s national team that won gold medals at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics.
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Giannis Antetokounmpo was born in Athens, Greece, to Nigerian parents, Charles and Veronica. The family had eight children—four boys and four girls. They were so poor that Giannis and his brother Thanasis slept in the same bed until they were 13 years old, when they each got their own. In 2013, Giannis entered the NBA draft, and the Milwaukee Bucks took him with the 15th overall pick. He started 72 games in his rookie season and was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.
Stephen Curry
Stephen Curry is one of the best basketball players in the world. He is a two-time NBA MVP and has led the Golden State Warriors to three NBA championships. Curry is known for his shooting ability and is considered one of the greatest shooters of all time. He is also an excellent ball-handler and passer.
James Harden
Houston Rockets superstar James Harden is one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history. He’s a six-time All-Star and the 2017-2018 MVP. He’s struggled in the postseason, however, and his team has never made it to the NBA Finals.
The match-ups
The 2020 NBA Finals will be the championship series of the National Basketball Association (NBA)’s 2019–20 season and conclusion of the season’s playoffs. The Eastern Conference champion will face the Western Conference champion in a best-of-seven playoff series.
Lakers vs. Bucks
It’s hard to bet against the Los Angeles Lakers. They have the best record in the NBA, they’re loaded with talent, and they have one of the greatest players of all time in LeBron James. The Lakers are also battle-tested, having been to the NBA Finals six times in the last ten years.
The Milwaukee Bucks also have a case for being the best team in the NBA. They have the league’s best player in Giannis Antetokounmpo, and they boast an impressive 30-5 record. The Bucks are young and hungry, and they’ll be looking to dethrone the Lakers as NBA champions.
So who will win this highly anticipated matchup? It’s tough to say, but we think the Lakers will come out on top. They have more experience than the Bucks, and they’ve shown time and time again that they’re capable of winning when it matters most.
Warriors vs. Rockets
It’s been awhile since we’ve had a Warriors vs. Rockets playoff series, but it looks like we’re in for a treat this year. These two teams met in the Western Conference Finals back in 2015, but the Warriors have come out on top in each of the last two meetings between these two teams. The Rockets are looking to change that this year, and they have the firepower to do it.
The Warriors are still the favorites to win the NBA title, but the Rockets will give them all they can handle. It should be a great series.
The predictions
Lakers in 6
The Los Angeles Lakers are on a roll. They have the best record in the Western Conference, and they’re coming into the NBA Finals with plenty of momentum. They’re also the defending champions, and they have one of the best players in the world in LeBron James.
The Lakers are going to win the NBA Finals in six games. They’re simply too strong and too talented for the Miami Heat. The Heat are a good team, but they don’t have enough firepower to keep up with the Lakers.
The Lakers will win the first game of the series, but the Heat will bounce back to win Game 2. The series will then head to Los Angeles for Games 3 and 4, and the Lakers will take both of those contests. The Heat will keep things interesting by winning Game 5 in Miami, but the Lakers will close out the series with a victory in Game 6.
Warriors in 7
The Warriors are currently the favorite to win the NBA Finals, and for good reason. They have one of the best players in the world in Steph Curry, and they also have a strong supporting cast. While they may not have the same level of talent as the Cavaliers, they have more than enough to win the series.
