Who Will Win Comeback Player of the Year in the NFL?
The NFL Comeback Player of the Year is an annual award given to the player who has overcome the most adversity to return to their previous level of success. This year, there are a few contenders for the title. Who do you think will win?
Tom Brady
Tom Brady will be in the running for Comeback Player of the Year after missing almost all of last season with a knee injury. Brady has looked sharp in preseason play, and with a healthy roster around him, the Patriots are once again favorites to win the Super Bowl.
Adrian Peterson
Adrian Peterson, who missed most of the 2016 season with a knee injury, is looking to make a comeback in 2017. After tearing his ACL in Week 2 of the 2016 season, Peterson underwent surgery and was placed on injured reserve. He returned to practice in November and was activated to the53-man roster in December, but did not play in a game. Prior to his injury, Peterson had racked up consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and was one of the league’s most dominant running backs.
Now that he’s healthy, Peterson is expected to resume his role as the lead back for the Minnesota Vikings. With a full offseason to recover and train, Peterson should be back to full strength for the start of the 2017 season. If he can stay healthy, there’s no reason to believe that he can’t return to form and be one of the league’s top running backs once again. For that reason, he’s our pick for Comeback Player of the Year.
Jamaal Charles
Jamaal Charles is a strong candidate for the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year. After missing most of the last two seasons with injuries, Charles is back to being one of the best running backs in the league. He’s currently second in the NFL in rushing yards (1,067) and first in yards per carry (6.8).
Charles has been a key part of the Kansas City Chiefs’ offense this season, helping them to a 9-3 record. If he can keep up his strong play, he should be in contention for the award.
Peyton Manning
Peyton Manning was one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL for years, but he missed all of last season due to injury. He’s back this year and he looks better than ever. It’s safe to say that Manning is the favorite to win Comeback Player of the Year.
