Wimbledon
The Wimbledon Championships is a tennis tournament held annually at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, London, United Kingdom. The main tournament consists of five event championships: Gentlemen’s Singles, Ladies’ Singles, Gentlemen’s Doubles, Ladies’ Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.
Roger Federer
In July 2019, Roger Federer won his ninth Wimbledon singles title, defeating Novak Djokovic in the final in straight sets. This was Federer’s fifth consecutive Wimbledon singles final, equaling the all-time record. He also became the first man to win nine Wimbledon singles titles.
Rafael Nadal
Rafael Nadal of Spain won the last tennis Grand Slam at Wimbledon. He defeated Roger Federer of Switzerland in the finals. This was their first meeting in a Wimbledon final since 2008, which Nadal won.
The U.S. Open
The U.S. Open is the last tennis grand slam of the year. It is played on the hard courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City. The tournament is held over two weeks in August and September. This year, the men’s singles final was won by Rafael Nadal of Spain, who defeated Daniil Medvedev of Russia in straight sets.
Novak Djokovic
Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic won the last tennis Grand Slam of the year, the U.S. Open, on September 10th. This marks Djokovic’s third U.S. Open win and 14th Grand Slam win overall. He is now tied with Pete Sampras for third place on the all-time Grand Slam leaderboard, behind only Roger Federer (20) and Rafael Nadal (18).
In the finals, Djokovic faced off against Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina, who was playing in his first ever Grand Slam final. Djokovic won in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-3, to claim victory. This was a rematch of their 2009 U.S. Open finals, which Djokovic also won in straight sets.
Djokovic has now won two of this year’s three Grand Slams, having previously triumphed at Wimbledon in July. He will look to complete a rare calendar year Grand Slam at next month’s French Open.
Serena Williams
Serena Williams is an American professional tennis player who is currently ranked No. 1 in the world by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). She has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, which is more than any other player in the Open Era (since 1968), and the second-most of all time, behind Margaret Court. In total, she has won 72 WTA singles titles, including four Olympic gold medals.
The French Open
The most recent Grand Slam tournament was the French Open, which was held from May 27 to June 10. Rafael Nadal of Spain emerged victorious in the Men’s Singles category, while Ashleigh Barty of Australia won the Women’s Singles title.

Rafael Nadal of Spain became the first man in tennis history to win 13 French Open singles titles on Sunday, as he defeated Novak Djokovic of Serbia in straight sets in the final.
Nadal’s 6-0, 6-2, 7-5 victory at Roland Garros gave him his 20th career Grand Slam singles title, tying him with Roger Federer for the most in men’s tennis history. It also moved him past Djokovic for the most major titles won on clay courts.
Simona Halep
Simona Halep of Romania stunned Serena Williams of the United States in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, to win her maiden Grand Slam title at Roland Garros. In a match that lasted just over an hour, Halep dominated from the start, breaking Williams’ serve in the very first game. Williams never found her rhythm andHalep ran away with the match, winning the last six games.
It is the first time in three years that Williams has lost a Grand Slam final; she was previously undefeated in seven finals since her most recent loss at Wimbledon in 2015. This is also Halep’s first ever win against Williams in eight attempts. The two have only played each other twice on clay, with Halep’s victory today being her first ever over Williams on the surface.
The Australian Open
The Australian Open is the first tennis grand slam of the year. It is held at Melbourne Park in Victoria, Australia. The tournament is played on hard courts and features both singles and doubles competition. The event is one of the four grand slams, which are the most prestigious tennis tournaments in the world.
Novak Djokovic
Novak Djokovic is a Serbian tennis player who is currently ranked world No. 1 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). He is widely considered to be one of the greatest tennis players of all time. Djokovic has won 16 Grand Slam singles titles, five ATP Finals championships, and an Olympic gold medal.
Naomi Osaka

Japanese professional tennis player Naomi Osaka has won the Australian Open, defeating Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.
This is Osaka’s second Australian Open title, and her third Grand Slam singles title overall, having also won the US Open in 2018 and 2019.
