LeBron James
LeBron James was announced as the NBA’s Most Valuable Player for the fifth time in his career on Monday, making him only the seventh player in league history to win the award five times.
James, who led the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 50-win season and a berth in the NBA Finals, beat out Houston Rockets point guard James Harden and San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard for the MVP honors.
The award caps off a remarkable season for James, who averaged 25.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game while shooting 54 percent from the field and 36 percent from three-point range. He also became just the third player in NBA history to reach the 30,000-point milestone.
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Giannis Antetokounmpo was unanimously voted the 2019-20 NBA MVP. He’s just the third player in NBA history to receive that honor, joining LeBron James and Steph Curry.
Anthony Davis
Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers has been named the 2019-20 NBA Most Valuable Player.Davis, who was also named Defensive Player of the Year, is the sixth player in NBA history to win both awards in the same season. He joins Michael Jordan (1988), Hakeem Olajuwon (1994), David Robinson (1995), Kevin Garnett (2004) and LeBron James (2009, 2012, 2013).
Kawhi Leonard
Kawhi Leonard of the Toronto Raptors has been named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player for the 2018-19 season, according to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Leonard, who was acquired by the Raptors in a trade with the San Antonio Spurs last offseason, averaged 26.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game in his first year with Toronto. He led the Raptors to a 58-24 record, the second-best mark in the Eastern Conference, and was named to the All-NBA First Team for the third time in his career.
The 27-year-old Leonard is just the third player in NBA history to win MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season, joining Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon. He is also just the second player to win MVP after being traded prior to the season, joining Moses Malone, who won MVP with both the Houston Rockets and Philadelphia 76ers in 1982-83.
