Who Won the NFL MVP Last Year?

The NFL MVP award is one of the most coveted honors in professional football. Find out who won the prestigious award last year.

Cam Newton

In 2015, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was named the NFL MVP. He is the first Panthers player to ever win the award. Newton had a great season, throwing for 3,837 yards and 35 touchdowns. He also ran for 10 touchdowns.

Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers are a professional American football team based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Panthers compete in the National Football League (NFL), as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) South division. The team is headquartered in Bank of America Stadium in uptown Charlotte; the stadium also serves as the home facility for the NFL’s Carolina Panthers.

The Panthers were established as an expansion team in 1995, and play their home games at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. They did not have a winning season until 2003, when they won the NFC Championship Game and reached Super Bowl XXXVIII, losing 32–29 to the New England Patriots. Since then, they have made five playoff appearances, all following seasons in which they won at least 11 games. In 2015, the Panthers became the first team since the 1970 AFL–NFL merger to appear in consecutive Super Bowls; they lost Super Bowl 50 to Denver after appearing in Super Bowl XLIX two years earlier.

Super Bowl

The Super Bowl is the biggest and most important American football game of the year. It is the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL). The game is played by the two best teams in the NFL, who compete for the Lombardi Trophy. The winner of the Super Bowl is crowned as the NFL champion.

The first Super Bowl was played on January 15, 1967. The Green Bay Packers, led by quarterback Bart Starr, defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, led by quarterback Len Dawson, by a score of 35-10. The Packers were coached by Vince Lombardi. Since then, there have been 50 more Super Bowls.

The most recent Super Bowl was played on February 5, 2017. The New England Patriots, led by quarterback Tom Brady, defeated the Atlanta Falcons, led by quarterback Matt Ryan, by a score of 34-28 in overtime. This was the Patriots’ fifth Super Bowl win and Brady’s fourth Super Bowl MVP award.

Tom Brady

Tom Brady, who plays for the New England Patriots, was named the NFL Most Valuable Player for the 2017 season. He is the only player to have won the award four times.

New England Patriots

Tom Brady is an American football quarterback for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He is one of only two players to win five Super Bowls (the other being Charles Haley), and he is the only player to win them all playing for one team. Brady has also been honored with four Super Bowl MVPs, the most ever by a single player, and he has won two league MVPs.

Deflategate

The Deflategate scandal was a National Football League (NFL) controversy involving the allegation that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady ordered the deflation of footballs used in the Patriots’ AFC Championship Game victory against the Indianapolis Colts on January 18, 2015. After an investigation, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Brady for four games of the regular season for “conduct detrimental to the integrity of the NFL”. The Patriots were also fined $1 million and forfeited their 2016 fourth-round and 2017 first-round draft picks.

Aaron Rodgers

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player for the second time in his career. Rodgers, who won the award for the first time in 2011, is the first player to win the MVP award in back-to-back seasons since it was first presented in 1957.

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers are a professional American football team based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Packers compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) North division. It is the third-oldest franchise in the NFL, dating back to 1919, and is the only non-profit, community-owned major league professional sports team based in the United States. Home games have been played at Lambeau Field since 1957.

The Packers are the last of the “small town teams” which were common in the NFL during the league’s early days of 1925 and 1926. Founded and organized by Earl “Curly” Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun on August 11, 1919, they joined forces with the nearly year-old American Professional Football Association (APFA) in 1921; Calhoun was elected president of league. The Packers have won 13 league championships, the most in NFL history, with nine pre–Super Bowl NFL titles and four Super Bowl victories.

Hail Mary

In American football, a hail Mary pass is a very long forward pass attempted near the end of a half, usually from inside the opponent’s 5-yard line, in an attempt to score a touchdown with only a small chance of success. A Hail Mary is generally completed by a quarterback throwing the ball up for grabs in the end zone, giving his receivers an opportunity to make a play on the ball.
