Bill Belichick

The New England Patriots’ Bill Belichick has been named the NFL’s Coach of the Year for the sixth time in his career. Belichick, who has also been named the AP’s Coach of the Year three times, is the only coach to win the award more than three times.

Coach Belichick has won NFL coach of the year a record five times, most recently in 2010. In 2007, he was named the AP NFL Coach of the Decade. Belichick has led the Patriots to fifteen AFC East division titles, thirteen appearances in the AFC Championship Game, and nine Super Bowl appearances, with a record six wins.

Sean McVay is an American football coach who is the head coach of the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He was hired by the Rams in 2017, making him the youngest head coach in modern NFL history at age 30. In his first season as head coach, he led the Rams to an 11–5 record and their first NFC West division title since 2003. The following year, McVay led the Rams to a 13–3 record and a berth in Super Bowl LIII.

Matt Nagy

In his first year as an NFL head coach, Matt Nagy guided the Chicago Bears to a 12-4 record and the NFC North title. Nagy’s innovative offensive approach and playcalling helped turn the Bears into one of the league’s most dangerous teams. His work with quarterback Mitchell Trubisky also paid dividends, as Trubisky made a huge leap in his second season. For his efforts, Nagy was named the 2018 NFL Coach of the Year.

Won NFC North

In his first season as the head coach of the Chicago Bears, Matt Nagy led the team to a 12-4 record and won the NFC North division title. He was named the NFL Coach of the Year by the Associated Press.

Nagy played college football at the University of Delaware and was a quarterback in the Arena Football League for six seasons. He began his coaching career as an assistant coach for the Arena Football League’s Kansas City Brigade in 2008. He then served as an assistant coach in various capacities for the Philadelphia Eagles from 2010 to 2012, before being hired as the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013.

Under Nagy’s guidance, the Chiefs offense ranked fifth in points scored in 2017. In January 2018, Nagy was hired as the head coach of the Bears.

Led the Bears to a 12-4 record

In only his second season as an NFL head coach, Matt Nagy led the Bears to a 12-4 record, NFC North title and berth in the NFC Wild Card playoff game. He was named the 2018 AP NFL Coach of the Year, becoming the third Bears coach to earn the honor (George Halas in 1963 and Dick Jauron in 2001).

Jon Gruden

The Oakland Raiders’ Jon Gruden has been named the 2018 NFL Coach of the Year. This is the first time he has won the award in his 20-year career. Gruden led the Raiders to a 10-6 record this season, their best record since 2002.

Won AFC West

The AFC West was one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL this season, and it was ultimately won by the 10-6 Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers were a game ahead of the 9-7 Kansas City Chiefs, who had won the division in each of the past three seasons. The third-place team in the AFC West was the Oakland Raiders at 6-10, followed by the Denver Broncos at 5-11.

In his first season back with the Oakland Raiders, head coach Jon Gruden led the team to a 10-6 record and a spot in the playoffs. For his efforts, he was named the NFL Coach of the Year by the Associated Press.
