Novak Djokovic of Serbia has won the Olympic gold medal in tennis. This is his first Olympic medal. He is also the first tennis player from Serbia to win an Olympic medal. Djokovic is the third man to win an Olympic gold medal in singles tennis, after Andre Agassi and Roger Federer.

With the win, Williams also tied steakholder Helen Wills Moody for the most Olympic gold medals by a tennis player with four.
