Won the gold medal in the women’s singles
Serena Williams of the United States won the gold medal in the women’s singles at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Williams defeated Angelique Kerber of Germany in the gold medal match, 6–3, 6–3. With the win, Williams became the first and only tennis player to have won four Olympic gold medals.
