Rafael Nadal
Rafael Nadal of Spain won the gold medal in men’s singles tennis at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. He defeated Fernando González of Chile in the final, 6–3, 3–6, and 6–3, to win his first Olympic gold medal. Nadal became the first man to win both Wimbledon and the Olympic gold medal in the same year.
Won the gold medal in the men’s singles
Rafael Nadal Parera is a Spanish professional tennis player, who is widely regarded as the greatest clay-court player in history. He has won 19 Grand Slam singles titles, the second most in history for a male player, as well as 39 ATP Tour Masters 1000 and 31 ATP Tour 500 tournaments. In majors, Nadal has won a record 12 French Open singles titles, three US Open singles titles, two Wimbledon singles titles, and one Australian Open singles title. He was also a member of the winning Spanish teams in the Davis Cup in 2004, 2008, 2009, and 2011. In 2010, he completed the Career Golden Slam and became the seventh player in history to do so. In 2011, Nadal was named Laureus World Sportsman of the Year.
Serena Williams
Serena Williams won the 2016 Rio Olympics against Germany’s Angelique Kerber in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Williams is now the most decorated female tennis player of all time with 22 Grand Slam titles, an Olympic gold medal, and four gold medals in doubles play.
Won the gold medal in the women’s singles
Serena Williams of the United States won the gold medal in the women’s singles at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on August 12, 2016. She defeated Germany’s Angelique Kerber 6–4, 6–3, in a rematch of the 2015 Wimbledon final. With the victory, she became only the second player after Steffi Graf to win an Olympic gold medal and a Wimbledon singles title in the same year.
Andy Murray
Andy Murray became the first person from Great Britain to win an Olympic gold medal in tennis, defeating Roger Federer in straight sets in the final. Murray had previously won a silver medal in the mixed doubles at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Andy Murray became the first British player since Jonny Marray in 2008 to win an Olympic tennis medal, and the first ever to win two, with his victory in the mixed doubles.
Venus Williams
Venus Williams, an African American woman, has always been a powerful and influential athlete. She has inspired many young girls and has been a role model for black women everywhere. She has always been a great tennis player, but she truly shined at the 2016 Olympics.
Won the silver medal in the women’s singles
Venus Williams is an American professional tennis player who is generally regarded as one of the all-time greats of the sport. She has been ranked world No. 1 by the Women’s Tennis Association on three occasions, for a total of 11 weeks. Williams has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, more than any other active female player except her sister Serena.
Williams first reached the No. 1 ranking on February 25, 2002, the first African American woman to do so in the Open Era, and the second all-time since Althea Gibson. She regained this ranking for the second time on June 9, 2003, and held it for four weeks, before losing it again to her sister Serena on July 7. Williams then re-claimed the No. 1 ranking for the third time on January 10, 2005 and held it for six weeks before yielding it to Davenport again on February 21.
