The 2016 NBA Finals was the championship series of the National Basketball Association (NBA)’s 2015–16 season and conclusion of the 2016 playoffs. The Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the defending NBA champion and Western Conference champion Golden State Warriors 4–3 in a rematch of the 2015 NBA Finals.
The Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavaliers made history in the 2016 NBA Finals by becoming the first team to come back from a 3-1 deficit to win the NBA championship. The Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors, 93-89, in Game 7 of the NBA Finals at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif., on Sunday, June 19, 2016, giving the franchise its first NBA title.

The Golden State Warriors won the 2016 NBA Championship defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 4 games to 3. The Warriors were led by their 2 MVP’s, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant who both averaged over 30 points per game in the series. The Cavaliers were led by LeBron James who averaged a triple double in the series.
The Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder won the 2016 NBA Championship after defeating the Golden State Warriors in seven games. The Thunder were led by Finals MVP Kevin Durant, who averaged 28.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game in the series. Other key contributors for the Thunder included guard Russell Westbrook and center Steven Adams.
The Toronto Raptors
The Toronto Raptors are a Canadian professional basketball team based in Toronto, Ontario. The Raptors compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as a member club of the league’s Eastern Conference Atlantic Division. The team was established in 1995, along with the Vancouver Grizzlies, as part of the NBA’s expansion into Canada. When the Grizzlies relocated to Memphis, Tennessee to become the Memphis Grizzlies in 2001, the Raptors became the only Canadian-based team in the NBA.
The Raptors originally played their home games at the SkyDome, before moving eastward along Bremner Boulevard to Scotiabank Arena (formerly known as Air Canada Centre) in 1999. They are owned by Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd., which also owns Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC and AHL hockey team Toronto Marlies. In 2012–13, they recorded the highest regular season win total for an NBA team ever with 48 wins (against 34 losses).
