The Road to the Championship
The 2018 NBA season was one of the most exciting in recent memory. The Golden State Warriors entered the season as the defending champions, but they faced stiff competition from a number of other teams. The Houston Rockets, led by MVP James Harden, were one of the top teams in the league all season long. The Boston Celtics, led by Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, were also contenders.
In the end, it was the Warriors who prevailed. They defeated the Rockets in seven games in the Western Conference Finals, and then defeated the Cavaliers in four games in the NBA Finals. This was Golden State’s third championship in four years.

The Cavaliers reached the Finals for the fourth consecutive year, tying a record first set by the Boston Celtics in the 1950s and 1960s; all four of those trips were against Golden State, which also became only the second team ever to go to four consecutive Finals, after LeBron James’s Miami Heat did so from 2011 to 2014.
The Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers won the 2018 NBA Championship after an intense seven-game series against the Golden State Warriors. The Cavaliers were led by LeBron James, who averaged a triple-double in the series. Other key contributors for the Cavaliers included Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving. Following another coaching change with Littles returning for one game before being replaced by veteran head coach Bernie Bickerstaff who went 10–30 over parts of two seasons before being replaced himself following a 3–19 start during 1988–89 (retroactively becoming Cleveland’s worst start through 22 games in franchise history untilLost 19 of 20Matchup Nov 25 – Jan 4) by former Cavalier player Lenny Wilkens whom had just been relieved of his head coaching duties with Atlanta Hawks days prior becoming not only oldest rookie head coach debuting at 57 years old but also winning Coach of the Year that season becoming 2nd person after Hall of Famer Alex Hannum doing same thing with St. Louis/Atlanta Hawks back-to-back seasons winning title both times.
