Who Won the MVP in the NBA in 2021?
The answer to this question is still up in the air, as the 2021 NBA season is still ongoing. However, there are a few players who are currently leading the pack in terms of MVP contenders. These include LeBron James, Nikola Jokic, and Joel Embiid.
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks is the most recent recipient of the NBA’s Most Valuable Player Award.
LeBron James
LeBron James has been unanimously voted the NBA’s Most Valuable Player for the 2020-21 season.
The 36-year-old Los Angeles Lakers star is a four-time MVP, having won the award in 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013. He is also a three-time NBA champion, having won titles with the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013 and the Lakers in 2020.
James averaged 25.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 10.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game this season as the Lakers went 52-19 to finish atop the Western Conference standings. He shot 50.4% from the field and 36.9% from three-point range.
Nikola Jokic
Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets is the 2020-21 NBA MVP. He beat out Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers and Julius Randle of the New York Knicks for the honor. This is Jokic’s first MVP award.
Joel Embiid
Joel “The Process” Embiid can add another impressive line to his still-growing resume. The 76ers center was named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player on Tuesday, becoming the first player in franchise history to win the award.
Embiid, who was born in Cameroon and didn’t start playing organized basketball until he was 15, beat out Nuggets center Nikola Jokic and Warriors guard Stephen Curry for the honor. He received 10 of the 101 first-place votes, while Jokic got the other 91.
