Russell Westbrook became only the second player in NBA history to average a triple double for an entire season, joining Oscar Robertson. Westbrook achieved this feat in the 2016-2017 season, averaging 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists per game. He was also named the NBA All Star MVP that year.

His scoring exploits helped lead the Rockets to a surprising 45-37 record, good for 8th in the Western Conference.

The 2017 All Star MVP was James Harden, who finished with a total of 29 points, 12 assists, and 8 rebounds. This is the first time that Harden has won the award, and he is only the third player in Houston Rockets history to do so.
