Zach LaVine
LaVine was the back-to-back champion in the dunk contest. He came into the contest with a lot of hype and did not disappoint. LaVine put on a show and won the contest with a score of 98.
Second year in a row
Zach LaVine became the first player in NBA history to win back-to-back slam dunk titles, as he took home the hardware at Saturday night’s All-Star Weekend event in Toronto.
LaVine, who won last year’s contest as a rookie with the Minnesota Timberwolves, defeated Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon in a thrilling final round that required two tiebreakers. After each player failed to complete two dunks in the first round of the final, LaVine won the title by making a between-the-legs dunk from just inside the foul line in the second tiebreaker.
Defeated Aaron Gordon
In what was one of the greatest dunk contests of all time, Zach LaVine outlasted Aaron Gordon to take home his second-consecutive dunk contest championship. In a battle that went back and forth, Gordon put up a valiant effort but ultimately came up just short against LaVine.
Aaron Gordon
The 2020 NBA dunk contest was one of the most amazing dunk contests ever. The participants were Aaron Gordon, Derrick Jones Jr., Pat Connaughton, and Dwight Howard. All four participants put on a great show, but in the end, Aaron Gordon was crowned the champion.
First year in contest
This was Aaron Gordon’s first year in the dunk contest. He had some amazing dunks, including a between-the-legs dunk from the free throw line.
Defeated by Zach LaVine
In 2016, LaVine and Gordon had one of the greatest dunk contests in the history of the event. LaVine won the contest with a perfect score on his final dunk, but many believed that Gordon deserved to win.
This year, Gordon returned to the dunk contest with a new set of tricks up his sleeve. He didn’t disappoint, putting on an incredible show. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to beat LaVine, who once again won the contest.
Andre Drummond
Andre Drummond won the 2020 NBA Dunk Contest. Drummond is a 6’10” center for the Detroit Pistons. He’s a two-time All-Star and was the runner-up for the 2019 NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
Third year in a row
Andre Drummond has won the NBA dunk contest for the third year in a row. The Detroit Pistons center beat out Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon in the final round. Drummond scored a perfect 50 on his final dunk, which was a between-the-legs slam from the free throw line.
Eliminated in first round
Andre Drummond was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in the first round of the 2012 NBA Draft. He was born on August 10, 1993, in Mount Vernon, New York. Drummond attended high school at St. Thomas More in Oakdale, Connecticut. In his one season at St. Thomas More, he averaged 10 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks per game. He was named a McDonald’s All-American and was ranked as the No. 3 center in his class by ESPN.
Drummond declared for the NBA Draft after his freshman year of college and was selected by the Detroit Pistons with the ninth overall pick. He became the first teenager to be drafted in the first round since Dwight Howard in 2004.
In his rookie season, Drummond averaged 7.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team and won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest.
Drummond’s sophomore season saw him average 13.8 points and 13.5 rebounds per game. He was named an All-Star for the first time in his career and finished second in voting for the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award.
During his third season, Drummond averaged a career-high 16 points and 14 rebounds per game. However, he missed significant time due to injuries and was unable to participate in the playoffs as the Pistons were swept by The Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round.
In 2016-17, Drummond rebounded from his injury-plagued 2015-16 campaign to average a double-double for the fourth consecutive season with 13 points and 13 rebounds per game; he also set a career high with 1.2 blocks per game while shooting a career-best 61% from the field.
