Who Won The Nba Summer League?

The NBA Summer League is over and the Los Angeles Lakers are the champions! Here’s a recap of the action and who won the individual awards.

The Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA Summer League championship on Sunday, defeating the Portland Trail Blazers in the final. It was the Lakers’ first Summer League title since 2010, and it came in front of a packed house at the Thomas & Mack Center on the UNLV campus. LeBron James, who watched from the stands, congratulated his teammates afterwards.

The young core

The Los Angeles Lakers have a young core of players that they are looking to build around. These players are Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, and Josh Hart. The Lakers want these players to be the future of the franchise, and they are hoping that they can develop into All-Star caliber players.

The veterans

The Los Angeles Lakers are an American professional basketball team based in Los Angeles. The Lakers compete in the National Basketball Association, as a member of the league’s Western Conference Pacific Division. The Lakers play their home games at Staples Center, an arena shared with the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers, the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women’s National Basketball Association, and the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League. The franchise began with the 1947 purchase of a disbanded team, the Detroit Gems of the National Basketball League. The new team began playing in Minneapolis, calling themselves the Minneapolis Lakers. Initially a member of the NBL, the Lakers won the 1948 NBL championship before joining the rival Basketball Association of America, where they would win five of their next six championships, captured consecutively from 1949–1954.

The Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings won the 2019 NBA Summer League championship on Monday, July 15th. They beat the New Orleans Pelicans in the championship game, 88-74. This is the Kings’ first Summer League title in franchise history.

The young core

The Kings have a promising young core that appears to be coming together. Bogdan Bogdanovic, De’Aaron Fox, Skal Labissiere, and Buddy Hield showed potential last season and were the key contributors to the Kings’ run in the Summer League. They will look to build on that success in the upcoming season.

This quartet provides the Kings with a mix of scoring, shooting, and playmaking ability. They will be counted on to lead the team offensively and help make up for the departure of some key veterans.

Bogdanovic is a skilled wing player who can score from all three levels. He is a good shooter and an improved defender. Fox is an explosive guard who can get to the basket at will. He needs to improve his jump shot but has all the tools to be a special player. Labissiere is a long and athletic big man who can score inside and out. He needs to add strength but has all the tools to be a very good player. Hield is a sharpshooter with unlimited range. He needs to improve his defense but has all the tools to be a very good player.

The veterans

The Sacramento Kings rookies and Second-year players took center stage in the NBA Summer League but it was the veterans that ultimately led the Kings to victory. Veteran forward Harrison Barnes averaged 19.5 points per game while shooting 46.2% from the field and an impressive 50% from three-point range. Second-year point guard De’Aaron Fox didn’t light up the scoreboard but he was a steadying influence on the team, averaging 5.5 assists per game.

Rookie center Marvin Bagley III was inconsistent at times but he showed flashes of brilliance, averaging 16 points and 8 rebounds per game. In the end, it was the leadership of Barnes and Fox that helped guide the team to a Summer League championship.

The Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors have won the NBA Summer League for the third time in four years. They beat the Los Angeles Lakers in the championship game 92-77. This is the first time the Warriors have beaten the Lakers in the Summer League since 2014.

The veterans

The much-anticipated summer league showcase for the NBA’s up-and-coming players is now in the books, with the Los Angeles Lakers defeating the Golden State Warriors in the championship game. But for Warriors fans, the real story is who won the Summer League MVP award: veteran forward Andre Iguodala.

Iguodala put up impressive numbers throughout the tournament, averaging 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists per game. He also shot an efficient 50% from the field and 40% from three-point range. But it was his leadership and experience that set him apart from the rest of the field.

The Warriors have high hopes for their young core of players, but it’s clear that they will need Iguodala’s guidance if they want to reach their full potential. With a well-deserved Summer League MVP trophy in hand, Iguodala is ready to accept that challenge.
