The National Football League recognized some of the best players and coaches in the league with its annual awards show. Here’s a look at who won what.

Rookie of the Year
Rookie of the Year is an annual award given to the top first-year player in the National Football League (NFL). The award was created in 2002, and its inaugural winner was quarterback Peyton Manning.
Since then, a number of players have won the award, including quarterbacks Michael Vick, Matt Ryan, and Sam Bradford; running backs Adrian Peterson and Eddie Lacy; wide receiver Anquan Boldin; and defensive stars Aaron Donald and Von Miller.
Comeback Player of the Year
Comeback Player of the Year is an annual award given to a player who has shown perseverance in returning to their sport after facing a significant obstacle. This can be coming back from an injury, suspension, or simply playing at a high level after being waived or traded. There are Comeback Player of the Year awards given out in many different sports, but the most prominent is the one given out by the National Football League (NFL).
This year, the award went toQuarterback Alex Smith of the Kansas City Chiefs. Smith had a breakout season this year, leading his team to an undefeated record in October and their first divisional title since 2010. This comeback is made all the more remarkable by the fact that just last year, Smith was considered washed up and was replaced by then- backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
Defensive Player of the Year
The National Football League Defensive Player of the Year Award is presented annually to the league’s best defensive player, as voted on by the NFL Players Association. The award was first presented in 1971 and has been given annually since then. The winner of the award is chosen by a vote of the members of the NFLPA, which consists of all professional football players in the league.
Since its inception, the award has been given to a defensive end, linebacker or cornerback. Linebackers have won the most awards, with 16 winners coming from that position. The only player to win the award multiple times is Lawrence Taylor, who did so in 1981 and 1982.
Offensive Player of the Year
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs is the 2018 NFL Offensive Player of the Year. The award was announced Saturday night at the NFL Honors ceremony in Atlanta.
Coach of the Year
The National Football League Coach of the Year Award is an award given by various news and sports organizations to the head coach who has done the most outstanding job during the previous NFL season.
