Who Won The Nfl Playoff Games Yesterday?
The National Football League (NFL) playoffs are a single-elimination tournament held after the regular season to determine the NFL champion. From 1933 to 1966, the NFL postseason generally only consisted of the NFL Championship Game, pitting the league’s two division winners (assuming there were two divisions in a particular year) against each other. In 1967, the league expanded to four teams with the addition of the AFL–NFL World Championship Game, better known as Super Bowl I. The tournament then expanded in 1970 with the addition of three wild-card teams, creating a 12-team playoff bracket. In 1978, that number jumped to 14 with the inclusion of two additional wild-card teams.
How The Games Were Won
The first game of the day was between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams. The Patriots were the better team throughout the game and ended up winning 13-3. The second game was between the New Orleans Saints and the Philadelphia Eagles. The Saints took an early lead and never looked back, winning 20-14.
Game One
The first game of the NFL playoffs was between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams. The Patriots won this game by a score of 13-3.
Game Two
The Rams won game two against the Saints with a final score of 30-20. The Rams will now advance to the NFC Championship game next week.
Game Three
The San Francisco 49ers won the third game of the playoffs against the Green Bay Packers with a score of 37-20. The 49ers will now advance to the Super Bowl where they will face either the Kansas City Chiefs or the New England Patriots.
What’s Next For The Winning Teams?
Now that the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs is complete, we know which four teams will be moving on to the divisional round. The divisional round is set to take place next weekend, with the following matchups:
-Baltimore Ravens vs. Buffalo Bills
-Kansas City Chiefs vs. Cleveland Browns
-New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
-Los Angeles Rams vs. Seattle Seahawks
The Ravens and Bills both won their respective Wild Card games yesterday, while the Chiefs and Saints also punched their tickets to the divisional round with victories. So, what’s next for these winning teams?
Let’s start with the Ravens, who will be taking on the Bills in Buffalo next weekend. The Ravens are coming off a convincing 20-13 win over the Tennessee Titans, and will now look to take down another AFC South opponent in the Bills. Buffalo was impressive in its own right yesterday, winning 27-24 over the Indianapolis Colts in a tightly contested matchup.
Next up are the Chiefs, who will be facing off against the Browns in Cleveland. The Chiefs came away with a 22-17 win over the Texans yesterday, while the Browns pulled off a surprise victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers by a score of 48-37. Cleveland will no doubt be a tough test for Kansas City, but if any team is up to the challenge it’s surely the defending Super Bowl champions.
Then we have the Saints, who defeated Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay yesterday by a score of 30-20. New Orleans will now turn its attention to another NFC South foe in Seattle next weekend. The Seahawks are coming off a 30-20 win over their division rivals, the Los Angeles Rams, so they’ll be no pushovers either. But if any team is built for playoff success it’s certainly New Orleans under head coach Sean Payton.
Last but not least are the Rams, who will be taking on Seattle once again next weekend after losing to them yesterday. The Rams are coming off a disappointing season overall, but they’ll have a chance to redemption against their NFC West rivals next weekend in Seattle. We’ll see if they can take advantage of that opportunity or if they’ll be making an early exit from the playoffs once again
What’s Next For The Losing Teams?
Now that the dust has settled on yesterday’s games, we can take a look at what’s next for the losing teams. For the Ravens, they’ll be heading home after a disappointing loss to the Titans. They’ll have some time to regroup and refocus, as they won’t be playing again until next Sunday. The Steelers, on the other hand, will be heading to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game.
