Rafael Nadal

Rafael Nadal of Spain won the gold medal in the men’s singles tennis competition at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This was Nadal’s second Olympic gold medal, having previously won the gold medal in the men’s singles tennis competition at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

Nadal next competed at the Bucharest Open, where he was victorious, again without dropping a set.

Novak Djokovic

Serbian professional tennis player Novak Djokovic has won the Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. He defeated Swiss player Roger Federer in the finals. This is a huge victory for Djokovic, as he has now won all four Grand Slams.

Won the Australian Open

Djokovic won his first major at the 2008 Australian Open, defeating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the final in straight sets. He became the youngest player in the Open Era to reach the semi-finals of all four majors, and joined Jimmy Connors, Ivan Lendl and Mats Wilander as the only men to do so. At Wimbledon, Djokovic reached his first Grand Slam final, where he lost to Rafael Nadal in five sets. This result made him the first man since Juan Carlos Ferrero in 2003 to reach the final of a Grand Slam tournament without previously having won one.

Won the French Open

Novak Djokovic won the French Open on Sunday, defeating Andy Murray in straight sets. With the victory, Djokovic became the first man in nearly a decade to win all four Grand Slam titles in a single year.

Since winning Wimbledon in July, Djokovic had also captured the U.S. Open and the Australian Open. His only loss came at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, where he was beaten in straight sets by Murray in the final.

In Sunday’s match, Djokovic outlasted Murray in a grueling contest that lasted just over four hours. He won 7-5, 7-6 (7-1), 5-7, 6-1 toClaim his second French Open title and his 12th major championship overall.
