Who Won The WWE Universal Championship?
The WWE Universal Championship is a world heavyweight championship created and promoted by the American professional wrestling promotion WWE on the SmackDown brand.
Brock Lesnar
On April 7, 2019, at WrestleMania 35, Brock Lesnar defeated Seth Rollins to win the WWE Universal Championship for the second time. This marked Lesnar’s sixth reign as a world champion in WWE, and his first since August 2017.
Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns is an American professional wrestler and former professional football player. He is signed to WWE, where he performs on the Raw brand. Reigns is a three-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, a one-time United States Champion, a one-time Intercontinental Champion, a one-time WWE Tag Team Champion (with Seth Rollins), and a one-time Slammy Award winner.
In football, Reigns was a two-time All-SEC selection at Georgia Institute of Technology, where he played defensive end. He was signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2007. As part of the NFL’s developmental squad program, he played for the Hamburg Sea Devils of NFL Europa in 2007. Upon his release from the Vikings in 2008, Reigns subsequently had brief stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League (CFL) before being signed by WWE in 2010.
Braun Strowman
At WWE Extreme Rules, Braun Strowman finally got his hands on the Universal Championship, defeating The Fiend Bray Wyatt in a No Holds Barred match to become champion for the first time in his career.
Strowman has been on quite the hot streak as of late, and it all started when he won the Money in the Bank contract back at WWE Money in the Bank. Since then, he has held onto the contract and used it to great effect, cashing it in to win the Universal Championship from Seth Rollins at WWE Super ShowDown.
However, his title reign was short-lived, as he lost the title back to Rollins just a few days later at WWE Extreme Rules. But with his recent win over The Fiend, Braun Strowman is once again your Universal Champion.
The Miz
On the February 20, 2017 edition of Monday Night RAW, The Miz defeated Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, Seth Rollins, and Samoa Joe in a Elimination Chamber match to become the WWE Universal Champion.
Samoa Joe
On Sunday night at SummerSlam, Samoa Joe won the WWE Universal Championship, defeating Brock Lesnar in what was one of the most anticipated matches on the card.
This is Samoa Joe’s first time winning the WWE Universal Championship, and he is only the second person to ever hold the title, after Lesnar himself.
The match was not without its controversy, however, as there were a number of low blows delivered by Samoa Joe throughout the match, including one that appeared to knock Lesnar out cold. Nevertheless, Samoa Joe was able to overcome Lesnar and become the WWE Universal Champion.
Finn Balor
Finn Balor won the WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 36 in a match against Brock Lesnar. He is the first-ever Universal Champion, and he held the title for less than 24 hours before losing it to Seth Rollins at Payback.
Goldberg
Goldberg defeated Kevin Owens at Fastlane to win the WWE Universal Championship, becoming a two-time Universal Champion in the process. Goldberg last held the title in 2003, making him the oldest man to ever hold the Universal Championship.
Kane
The WWE Universal Championship is a world heavyweight championship created and promoted by the American professional wrestling promotion WWE on their Raw brand. It is one of two world titles for WWE’s main roster, along with the WWE Championship on SmackDown. The current champion is Brock Lesnar, who is in his second reign.
