Who’s a Free Agent in 2021 NBA?

With the 2021 NBA free agency period around the corner, we take a look at who’s eligible and who might be on the move.

Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving is one of the best point guards in the NBA. He’s a dynamic scorer and an excellent playmaker. Irving is a five-time All-Star and was the 2016 NBA Finals MVP. He’s also one of the most publisher sneakerhead in the league. Kyrie will be a free agent in 2021.

Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets are an American professional basketball team based in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The Nets compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The team plays its home games at Barclays Center. They are one of two NBA teams located in New York City; the other is the New York Knicks. The franchise was established in 1967 as a charter member of the NBA’s rival league, the American Basketball Association (ABA). They played in New Jersey as the New Jersey Americans during their first season, before relocating to Long Island, New York, in 1968 and changing their name to the New York Nets. During this time, former ABA star Julius Erving began his career with the Nets.

The Nets won two ABA championships in New York before becoming one of four ABA teams to be admitted into the NBA as part of the ABA–NBA merger in 1976. The team then moved back to New Jersey in 1977 and became known as the New Jersey Nets from 1977 to 2012. During this time, they made five consecutive appearances in the NBA Finals from 2002 to 2006, with two consecutive wins coming in consecutive years (2002–2003), led by point guard Jason Kidd. After suffering severe financial difficulties, a deal was finalized that saw them relocated back to Brooklyn for actions starting with the 2012–13 season and adopting their current regional name that same season.

Boston Celtics

Kyrie Andrew Irving (/ˈkaɪri/; born March 23, 1992) is an American professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was named NBA Rookie of the Year after being selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft. A six-time NBA All-Star, Irving was named to the All-NBA Third Team in 2015. He won an NBA championship with the Cavaliers in 2016.

Irving played college basketball for one season with Duke University before being drafted by Cleveland. He won his first major sports championship when he helped lead the Cavaliers to an NBA title in 2016, their first in franchise history. In 2017, Irving requested a trade from Cleveland and was sent to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Ante Žižić, Jae Crowder and a 2018 unprotected first round draft pick.

With Boston, Irving reached two consecutive Eastern Conference Finals and was named to another All-Star Game and All-NBA team. In 2019, he suffered a season-ending injury shortly before the playoffs which led to Boston’s elimination in the second round. The following offseason, he signed with Brooklyn.

Bradley Beal

Beal is one of the best young talents in the NBA, and he would be a max contract player on just about any other team. The Wizards have him on a bargain contract that has two years remaining, which is why they were so hesitant to move him at the trade deadline. Beal is a star shooting guard that can score from anywhere on the court.

Washington Wizards

Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal is one of the best players in the NBA and is set to become a free agent in 2021. Beal has been with the Wizards his entire career, and though he has had some injury problems, he is still one of the best scorers in the league. It remains to be seen what Beal will do when he becomes a free agent, but it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers are an American professional basketball team based in Los Angeles. The Lakers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as a member of the league’s Western Conference in the Pacific Division. The Lakers play their home games at Staples Center, an arena shared with the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers, the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women’s National Basketball Association, and the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League. The Lakers are one of the most successful teams in the history of the NBA, and have won 16 NBA championships, their last being in 2010.

Bradley Beal is an American professional basketball player for the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Florida Gators before being selected by the Wizards with the third overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft.

DeMar DeRozan

DeMar DeRozan is an incredible player with a lot of potential. He’s one of the best shooting guards in the league and can score from anywhere on the court. DeRozan is also a great rebounder and can run the fast break. He’s a versatile player and can play multiple positions. DeRozan will be a free agent in 2021 and will be one of the most sought-after players in the league.

San Antonio Spurs

In 2021, DeMar DeRozan will become an unrestricted free agent. He is currently in his 11th season in the NBA and his 8th with the Spurs. The 4-time All-Star has career averages of 21.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4 assists per game.

Toronto Raptors

DeMar DeRozan is a professional basketball player who was most recently with the Toronto Raptors of the NBA. He was born in Los Angeles, California, on August 7, 1989, and played high school basketball at Compton High School. In his senior year, he was named the Most Valuable Player of the Southern California Invitational Basketball Tournament. DeRozan then attended the University of Southern California, where he played college basketball for one season. After a successful freshman campaign, he declared himself eligible for the 2009 NBA Draft and was selected by the Toronto Raptors with the ninth overall pick.

DeRozan has spent his entire NBA career with the Raptors, becoming one of the franchise’s best players. He was named to the NBA All-Star team in 2015 and 2017 and was named to the All-NBA Third Team in 2018. He helped lead the Raptors to their first ever NBA Finals appearance in 2019, where they ultimately lost to the Golden State Warriors in six games. DeRozan’s contract with the Raptors expired after the 2018-19 season, making him a free agent. It is unclear where he will play next season, but he will certainly be one of the most sought-after players on the open market.

Rudy Gobert

Rudy Gobert is a French professional basketball player for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He also represents the French national team in the international competitions. Standing at 7 feet 1 inch (2.16 m), he plays the center position. He was named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2018 and 2019

Utah Jazz

Rudy Gobert is a French professional basketball player who plays center for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was drafted by the Jazz with the 27th overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft. He has been selected to two NBA All-Star teams and is a two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year. He has also been named to four All-NBA Teams and four NBA All-Defensive Teams.

Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets are an American professional basketball team based in Denver, Colorado. The Nuggets compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Northwest Division. The team was founded as the Denver Larks in 1967 as a charter franchise of the American Basketball Association (ABA), but changed its name to Rockets before the first game. It changed its name again to the Nuggets in 1974. After the name change, the Nuggets played for the final ABA Championship title in 1976, losing to the New York Nets.

The team has had some periods of success, qualifying for the ABA Playoffs for all seasons from 1967 to the 1976 ABA playoffs where it lost in the finals. The team joined the NBA in 1976 after the ABA–NBA merger and qualified for the NBA playoffs nine times since then. However, it has not made an appearance in a championship round since its last year in 1982–83 which is longer than all but five current NBA teams (the Philadelphia 76ers joined two years earlier but have yet not won a title).

Danilo Gallinari

Danilo Gallinari is an Italian professional basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is 6 feet 10 inches (2.08 m) tall and plays the small forward and power forward positions. Gallinari was drafted sixth overall by the New York Knicks in the 2008 NBA draft.

Atlanta Hawks

Early in his days with the Hawks, it wasn’t looking too promising for Gallinari. He was shooting terribly from three and looked like he might be on his way out of town. However, he’s picked it up recently and has been a huge part of the Hawks’ success this season. They’ll be looking to keep him around long-term, but it won’t be easy given the depth of this free agent class.

Los Angeles Clippers

Danilo Gallinari is an Italian professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is 6 feet 10 inches (2.08 m) tall and plays the small forward and power forward positions. He was selected with the sixth overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft by the New York Knicks.
