Wondering who’s all in the playoffs this year in the NFL? Check out our blog post to find out which teams are still in the running for the Super Bowl.

Who’s in the playoffs?

The NFL playoffs are upon us and there are 12 teams remaining in the hunt for the Lombardi Trophy. Who’s in? Who’s out? Let’s take a look.

AFC

The American Football Conference (AFC) is one of the two conferences of the National Football League (NFL), the highest professional level of American football in the world. This conference and its counterpart, the National Football Conference (NFC), currently contain 16 teams each, making up a total of 32 teams in the NFL. Both conferences are made up of four divisions, each containing four teams. Since 2002, each conference has had the same 16-game regular-season schedule.

The AFC was established on June 8, 1970, when an agreement was made between the NFL’s then-current 14 clubs and three expansion franchises—the Cincinnati Bengals, the Miami Dolphins, and the Buffalo Bills—to equally balance out the conferences. Since 1970, with expansion and realignment complete, 13 AFC teams have reached at least one Super Bowl (out of a possible 54), while only 12 NFC teams have done so.

NFC

As the 2020 NFL season winds down, we take a look at who’s in and who’s out in the NFC playoff race.

The NFC is a loaded conference this year, with several teams vying for a spot in the playoffs.

As it stands right now, the New Orleans Saints are in the lead for the number one seed, followed by the Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks, and Dallas Cowboys.

The Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals are currently fighting for the final spot in the Wild Card round.

it’s still anybody’s game in the NFC.

How did they get there?

The Seahawks and the Packers both clinched their spots in the playoffs with week 16 wins. The Seahawks are the number one seed in the NFC and will have a first-round bye. The Packers are the number two seed in the NFC and will host the number three seed, the Saints, in the first round of the playoffs.

AFC

The American Football Conference (AFC) is one of two conferences within the National Football League (NFL), the other being the National Football Conference (NFC). The AFC was created on June 8, 1970. The AFC’s sixteen teams are divided into four divisions: the East, West, North, and South. Two teams from each division—a total of six teams—qualify for the playoffs each year. This system ensures that all four division winners earn a playoff berth while adding an additional wild card team to the playoffs in each conference. In the event two teams from the same division tie for a playoff position, a series of tiebreakers are used to determine which team advances to the playoffs.

NFC

The National Football Conference (NFC) is one of the two conferences of the National Football League (NFL), the highest professional level of American football in the world. This conference and its counterpart, the American Football Conference (AFC), currently contain 16 teams each, making up a total of 32 teams in the NFL. A series of playoffs at the end of the NFL’s regular season determines which teams from each conference will advance to the Super Bowl, the league’s championship game.

Currently, NFC teams are divided into two divisions: East and West. The four teams that win their divisional playoff games advance to the NFC Championship game, where the winner from each divisional playoff game meets to determine who will go to the Super Bowl.

The NFC has sent 27 different teams to the Super Bowl, with a record of 13 wins and 14 losses.
