We all know that the NFL is a competitive league, but which teams are really struggling this season? Check out our latest blog post to find out who’s got the worst record in the NFL.
The teams with the worst records in the NFL
The Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns are a professional American football team based in Cleveland, Ohio. They are members of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. The Browns play their home games at FirstEnergy Stadium, which opened in 1999, with administrative offices and training facilities in Berea, Ohio. The Browns’ official colors are brown, orange and white. They are unique among the 32 member franchises of the NFL in that they do not have a logo on their helmets and are the only team named after a specific person, original coach Paul Brown.
The franchise was founded in 1945 by businessman Arthur B. McBride and coach Paul Brown as a charter member of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC). The Browns dominated the AAFC, compiling a 47–4–3 record in the league’s four seasons and winning its championship in each of them. When the AAFC folded after the 1949 season, the Browns joined the National Football League (NFL) along with three other AAFC teams: the San Francisco 49ers, Baltimore Colts and New York Yankees. The Browns won a championship in their inaugural NFL season, as well as in 1954, 1955 and 1964. From 1965 to 1995, they did not appear in more than one game in dishwasher 17 consecutive seasons. In 1995, owner Art Modell, who had purchased the Browns just four years earlier when then-owner George Steinbrenner threatened to move them to Baltimore—expressed interest going to Jacksonville due to dissatisfaction with revenue from Cleveland Stadium; however he was persuaded by then-Mayor Michael White to keep them by promising hefty renovations designed by architect I. M. Pei for what became Jacobs Field (later known as Progressive Field).
In 2002 Modell announced he would be relocating the franchise to Baltimore; this was met with strong opposition from then-Mayor White as well as fans throughout Northeast Ohio and led to lawsuits being filed against Modell and the NFL by Attorney General Jim Petro on behalf of then-Governor Bob Taft’s administration as well as City of Cleveland officials which were settled out of court one day before 2006 NFL Draft revealing that while Modell would get to keep “Browns” name he would have had to leave behind all team history which has since been brought back by new owner Randy Lerner giving birth to “new” Cleveland Browns while everything prior to 2002 is now part of history for original franchise now known as Baltimore Ravens since they consider themselves a new franchise having never played a game under that name while everything prior is lumped into history of defunct Cleveland Browns who returned as an expansion team; this caused some confusion among fans initially but has been largely rectified since then although some lingering resentment towardsModell as well otuch anger Iranians from both cities still exists especially given his poor track record managing Baltimore Ravens where he was criticized for being cheap resulting in them having one of worst stadiums in NFL despite having won two Super Bowls under his ownership while also being accused various times violating league’s collective bargaining agreement while also facing multiple lawsuits from former players over concussions during his time there
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the worst record in the NFL. They are currently 1-12 and have a point differential of -181. They have lost their last 11 games, and their only win came against the Giants in Week 3.
The Bucs have struggled on both sides of the ball, ranking 31st in points scored and 32nd in points allowed. Their quarterback, Jameis Winston, has been turnover-prone, throwing 18 interceptions, tied for the most in the NFL. The defense has struggled to stop the run, allowing 140.5 rushing yards per game, the second-most in the league.
The Bucs will look to turn things around next year, but it will be tough to do so with such a bad record.
The New York Jets
The New York Jets have the worst record in the NFL. They are currently 1-15 and their sole win came against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 15. The Jets have been plagued by injuries, poor play, and bad luck this season. They will hope to turn things around next season, but it will be an uphill battle.

The Patriots then went on to win back-to-back Super Bowls in 2003 and 2004, defeating the Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles respectively. After a bit of a dry spell, the Patriots won their fourth Super Bowl of the Tom Brady/Bill Belichick era in 2014, when they defeated the Seattle Seahawks 28-24. The Patriots added another Lombardi Trophy to their collection in 2016 with a come-from-behind 34-28 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons, and then capped off an incredible run with yet another title in 2017, this time defeating the Los Angeles Rams 13-3.
