Contents
The NFL season is in full swing and teams are fighting for position. Who’s in first place in the NFL right now?
The NFL’s Top Teams
The National Football League (NFL) is a professional American football league. The NFL is the highest level of professional football in the United States, and the world’s most popular sports league, with an annual revenue of around US$13 billion. As of the 2019 season, the NFL’s 32 teams are divided equally into two conferences: the National Football Conference (NFC) and the American Football Conference (AFC).
The New England Patriots
The New England Patriots are currently in first place in the NFL with a record of 11-3. The Patriots have won the AFC East divisional title a total of eleven times, and they have won the AFC Championship game six times. The Patriots have also made it to the Super Bowl a total of eight times, winning five of those games.
The Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers are currently leading the NFL with a record of 10-3. They have won their last three games in a row, and are looking strong heading into the playoffs. Led by MVP candidate Aaron Rodgers, the Packers offense is one of the best in the league, averaging over 30 points per game. The defense has also been solid this season, giving up an average of less than 20 points per game. With a strong team and a favorable schedule remaining, the Packers are in a good position to make a run at the Super Bowl this year.
The Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are currently in first place in the NFL with a 10-1 record. The Cowboys have one of the best offenses in the league, led by quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott. The Cowboys also have a very good defense, led by linebacker Sean Lee.
The NFL’s Bottom Teams
The NFL is back and in full swing and that means that there are a few teams at the bottom of the standings. Who’s in last place? Who’s in second to last place? Let’s take a look at the NFL’s bottom teams.
The Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns are a professional American football team based in Cleveland, Ohio. They are members of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. The Browns play their home games at FirstEnergy Stadium, which opened in 1999, with administrative offices and training facilities in Berea, Ohio. The Browns’ official colors are brown, orange, and white. They are unique among the 32 member franchises of the NFL in that they do not have a logo on their helmets.
The franchise was founded in 1944 by businessman Arthur B. McBride and coach Paul Brown as a charter member of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC). The Browns dominated the AAFC, compiling a 47–4–3 record in the league’s four seasons and winning its championship title in each of them. When the AAFC folded after the 1949 season, the Browns joined the National Football League (NFL) along with the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Colts.
The San Francisco 49ers
While the Niners have been one of the worst teams in the NFL over the past few years, they are currently in first place in their division and are looking like a playoff team. Led by quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, the 49ers have one of the best offenses in the league, and their young defense is improving every week. If they can keep up this level of play, they could be a dangerous team in the playoffs.
The New York Jets
The New York Jets are currently in first place in the NFL with a record of 8-5. They have been led by their strong defense, which is ranked first in the league in points allowed per game. The Jets offense has also been solid, ranking ninth in the league in points scored per game.
The Jets have a tough schedule remaining, as they still have to play the Patriots, Bills, and Rams. However, if they can win two out of those three games, they will likely be able to clinch a playoff berth.
